Aless was getting weaker every single day. She had become incredibly thin.
Heisenberg worried more and more. She was his everything. He loved her more than he had loved anything else. And she was withering away, and he didn't know why.

He had done multiple tests on her; he even brought Moreau in to try and help.

She went from sociable, happy and talkative, to weak, quiet, and sick in half a year.
Whatever she was sick with was getting her fast.
And he had to do something before it took her away from him, too.

He walked in her room during the morning, with fresh soup in his hand and a spoon in the other.
"Morning, buttercup." He hummed.

She was looking out the window. It was lightly snowing.
"Look. It's the first snowfall of the year." She smiled weakly.
Heisenberg looked out then window and then back at her.
"Yes, I can see."
He set the items in his hand down beside the bed table. Her hazel eyes, once alight with inspiration and a fire that he believed nobody could put out, was dim.
Running his hands through her hair, he smiled at her.
She slowly reached for him, grabbing his hand and clasping it tightly. "Did you have a good sleep?"

Heisenberg sighed. "Yes, I did." He lied. He hadn't been getting enough sleep for weeks, worrying about her and trying to figure out what was wrong with her. Hell, he hadn't touched that factory in 6 months.

"Did you?" He asked quietly, kissing her on the cheek.
She nodded.
"Mhm." She croaked.

"Good. Here, I've got soup for you." He said, holding up the bowl.

He helped her eat. When she was done, he cleaned up and stood up. His eyes darted to the side table. A book was sitting neatly atop it.
"What's that?" He gestured to the book.

"Oh, just a book. I started reading it a long time  ago, but I stopped. I decided to start reading it again." She sighed.

"Oh. Well, um, Miranda wants to have a meeting here, at the Manor. I don't know why but she does. I'll make sure nobody will bother you, okay?" He leaned over and kissed her on the forehead.

"Okay. I was hoping you could stay with me today, but.. I guess not." Aless sighed

"No, no! If you want me to skip it, I will. I care more about you than those fuckin' meetings."

"No!!! Go! It's okay, honey. I'll be right here, you can just come hang out when you're done." She said, shooing him out of the room.

He sighed.

Slowly walking down the stairs, he reached the main floor and turned the corner into the kitchen.
I'll figure it out. Fuck, I'm an engineer. I experiment with dead people. I'm a smart guy.. I should be able to figure it out.

He cleaned up the living room a bit after washing the dishes, rearranging some things and trying to prepare it for the meeting.

The time arrived, and people started coming.
Lady Dimitrescu was on time, as always. She looked around the house with disgust, but said nothing as she crouched down in her seat.
Donna and Angie were next.
He didn't want the doll in his house, but he knew he couldn't refuse her, or else he would suffer Donna's wrath.
Last was Miranda and Moreau, which, to say the least, he wasn't too keen on letting them in his house.

The meeting was mostly about taxes and the status of the village. Miranda had been going on and on about some ceremony, but Karl wasn't listening.
He was tuning out Miranda and starting to fall asleep from boredom when someone tapped him on the shoulder.
"Hm?"
