"page her again" he social worker told the nurse. "i am i'm paging her she's not responding" the nurse said as the worker was worried for the child. "wheres my wife?" billie asked. "were trying to find her , her and Autumn went missing" she said.

"what" billie eyes went wide. we went on and on as billie left me 56 different voicemails. i went a closet no one goes into and sat Autumn down and we sat there for two hours and then i decided to page Kaitlyn, she'll know what to do.

5 minutes later Kaitlyn came in strangely looking at her pager as to why i pages her specifically here and looked at me. "i think i stole a baby" i confessed as she looked at me confused and disappointed.

30 minutes later Kaitlyn is pacing around the room rambling. "first of all you didn't steal the baby she's your baby what you did is.. you took her for a nap" Kaitlyn said trying to come up with an excuse.

"in a very odd location" she looked around disgusted. "and you fail to answer your phone. but you know many people find all the technology in our lives to be intrusive no you're not the first person who didn't answer her phone" she rambled and paused while the baby was making noises.

"or her pager" i looked at her hopeless. "well you know all we have to do is- is find a reason why you were AWOL for an hour" she calmed down thinking. "three" i corrected. "hours" i finished and she looked at me in shock.

"the worker was gonna take the baby so i .. took off" i said truthfully. "okay .. okay" Kaitlyn said accepting it. "people make mistakes i mean i almost killed Owen like almost a year ago in the O.R. so we'll just figure it out" she said running out of ideas.

and i looked at her confusingly as i didn't hear about this until now. "what , how?" i asked. "i don't know" she said. "no how'd you almost kill Owen" i asked. "i accidentally injected him with a CC of EPI" she said.

"whatever you know he's fine , he's alive today. just um .. just stay here i'll fix this" she said leaving. "what are you gonna do?" i asked before she left. "i'm gonna fix it" she said confidently and left.

"she had an accident at the park" we told the worker as she believed it and Kaitlyn nodded along. "why weren't you answering your phone?" billie asked. "battery died" i responded "i didn't have my charger" i lied.

"you should've told us" the worker suggested. "okay so i should've brung her to you first or clean her up from her injuries? which sounds like bad parenting" i snapped and billie did a sly smile at me for my confidence.

"i'll be by your house at 9 to pick her up" the worker said and left as me and billie faces dropped. "everything's okay?" Owen came in and asked. "can you take her back to daycare" i said and handed him Autumn while Kaitlyn walked out with him.

"i'm proud of you" billie smiled. "still mad , but proud i love you see you tonight" she pecked my lips and left after Chief. Davis came in the hospital room and sat down next to me. "how's Jèsus" he asked about my dad.

"he's doing fine" i answered. "what you did today was brave. but you need to follow protocol no matter the circumstance, this is your first strike" he said. "you can have your job back" he said and a smile lit up on my face and his afterwards

"thank you" i hugged him. "i will be resigning as Chief" he confessed and i looked at him with wide eyes. "no" my smile dropped. "Dr.lewis will take it from here , plus isn't he your favorite male attending?" he asked.

"yes" i smiled. "so tell me , what specialty are you going into? next week marks your year four of being a surgeon" he asked. "i don't know i haven't decided but its so crazy how- i was just in high school, a kid. now i'm a surgeon i don't know how" i said unbelievably.
