Chapter five

TW: Mentions of kidnapping

Lupin and Y/N apparate to Hogsmeade and head to Hogwarts. When they enter the castle, Lupin turns to look at her. "I am afraid I will have to talk to Headmaster Dumbledore privately first. But in the meantime, you could go and say hi to Professor Snape. He is in his private chambers right now, I trust you remember the way?" he suggests.

Wondering what they are going to talk about, Y/N nods as she then heads towards the dungeons while Lupin heads to the Headmaster's office.

He has to talk to Dumbledore privately as they have to discuss a few things about her birthday surprise.

Y/N is now outside Snape's private chambers. It took a while since she had to walk down the stairs which is one of her fears. Bees and walking down the stairs - no, thanks.

She decides to knock a few times. Snape then opens the door quite forcefully while looking angry. However, his expression softens when he sees who just knocked on his door.

Y/N notices that he still has a scar left from last year - one near his left eyebrow.

"Y/N? What a lovely surprise. I thought Dumbledore had to tell you something?" he questions in his silky voice.

She smiles at him quite shyly. "Hi, Sna- Severus. It's so good to see you, I missed you a lot. And yeah, but Professor Lupin had to talk to him privately first. So I wanted to say hi to you while I wait" she shyly says.

Snape chuckles. "You almost called me Snape again. You must really like my last name, huh? Do remember not to call me Severus when in public, though. But anyway, I missed you too, princess" he says as he gives her a small smile.

He would never do that in public, not even if someone would give him the most expensive potion ingredients. Which he really needs as he's running low soon.

Y/N suddenly throws her arms around him, hugging him tightly. He slowly hugs her back. He however starts to pat her back to signal her to stop as it gets a bit too much for him.

She finally gets the hint and stops hugging him as her cheeks turn red. Snape smirks at her.

"I would invite you inside my private chambers, but I am sure Dumbledore and Professor Lupin will be done talking soon. Shall we head there now?" he suggests.

He has actually no idea if they are done talking or not - he just forgot to hide her birthday present as he did not expect her to come here knocking on his door. Yes, he has bought her a birthday present. He usually never buys presents for anyone. Y/N is surely an exception for a lot of things.

"That's okay, maybe another time? And yeah, let's go to Dumbledore's office now" she says as she gives him a shy smile.

As Snape gives her a nod, they both then leave to the Headmaster's office. Y/N is interested in knowing what the password might be this time. "Lemon chocolate" Snape says as he rolls his eyes.

"Really? Lemon chocolate? You know what, I actually won't question Dumbledore's choice of passwords anymore" she says as she shrugs.

They both walk up the stairs. They are met by Lupin and Dumbledore talking. "Hello, Y/N. It is good to see you again. Professor Lupin and I were just discussing something about his lessons. By the way, would you like a lemon drop?" Dumbledore offers her politely while smiling. Y/N shakes her head no.

"Very well. I have asked for you to come here, Y/N, as another dimension has asked for our help to destroy a powerful enemy. We would have sent someone from the Order, but we are currently on a mission of our own which requires all members to be available. Do you have your diamond with you, by the way?" the Headmaster asks.

Lupin curses under his breath. He forgot to tell her to bring the diamond!

"Actually, I do. After last year, I always keep the diamond in my pocket or in a bag. You just never know" she says as she gives a chuckle. Lupin sighs in relief. Thank Merlin for that.

Dumbledore smiles. "Good. You will need your powers to help the dimension in need. Are you ready to leave?" he asks her curiously.

Y/N thinks for a while. Laura and Vera! Shouldn't they come too? She at least has to let them know. "Um, Vera and Laura don't know, so I should probably go and tell them that I'm leaving for a bit" she says, hoping that she can do that before she has to leave.

Dumbledore gives her a sad smile. "Your friends are already there in that dimension. You see, they were almost kidnapped by the enemy" he calmly tells her.

Y/N widens her eyes. They were almost kidnapped? And he tells her that now?!

"Do not worry, they are fine. Vera and Laura are with the people that need your help" he adds as he can sense her concern.

Sighing in relief, Y/N nods at that. "Okay, I guess I'm ready, then. Oh, by the way, I was actually wondering if you have found the Malfoys?" she asks, a bit hesitant. She really hopes they did and that they are all right.

Snape sighs. "Unfortunately not. We have absolutely no idea where they are. We suspect that they are hiding somewhere" he tells her.

He won't admit it but he is worried about his friend. Where could he be? Are Narcissa and the boy okay? He hopes that they will not be given a way too harsh punishment if the Order does find them.

Y/N looks quite sad. She's worried about them, too.

Lupin clears his throat. "That is actually one of our current missions - to find them. Do not worry, Y/N. We will let you know when we do find them" he reassures her as he gives her a smile. Nodding, she signals that she's ready for her mission.

Suddenly, a portal is in front of her. "Wait, what dimension am I going to?" Y/N asks, confused.

Dumbledore's eyes sparkle. "Oh, you will see" Dumbledore simply says while smiling.

He suddenly pushes her through the portal without any warning. Y/N looks absolutely shocked. What the hell, Dumbledore?

"Was that really necessary?" Snape asks while raising an eyebrow. Lupin raises an eyebrow too, agreeing with Snape.

Dumbledore chuckles. "No, but it was good for the dramatic effects" he says as he then takes a bite of some chocolate with lemon taste.

"Would you like a bite, Severus, Remus?" Dumbledore asks them politely.

Snape rolls his eyes. "No, thanks" he drawls.

Lupin shakes his head no. "I really hope that she does not get a hard landing, Albus" he says, hoping she will be fine.
