"sam and steve must be going insane right now," bucky mutters, hand pulling the one in his as he crouches behind the wall covering you both from view.

you nod distractedly, "yeah, nat's gonna kill us."

bucky pauses at your faraway tone, careful to not rise above your guys' cover or make too much noise and divert the attention of the frustrated avengers to you two. "yeah, so we should probably hurry and sneak in-"

"can i ask you a question?" you blurt, thumb rubbing nervous circles on the skin of his hand. bucky's eyebrows furrow, worry crawling up at your demeanor; his mind is screaming doubts at him and he squeezes your hand subconsciously, making your lips rise a little.

"of course. just, we're kind of in a hurry, so..."

"i just... you know how much i love you- actually, you don't, i'm not even sure because it's kind of really ridiculous," you laugh lightly. bucky can feel his stress going away, leaving only the pale gold of excitement and love. he peeks at the watch resting on his vibranium arm, and you continue, "i just wanted to ask- and i know this may sound dumb- you do love me back, right?"

bucky's eyes narrow at you after a brief moment of surprise, "uh, y/n, doll," he starts with a hesitant smile, "we've been together for seven years and we're getting married in-" his eyes flick to his watch, "three minutes and counting."

you blink at him, "... is that a yes?"

bucky laughs fully now, quieting down when he remembers what you both are doing, "it's a definite yes. it's a 'you're stuck with me now' yes." you grin, pulling him to you and hugging him tightly before pressing a happy kiss to his lips. "now, we have to go, i don't think the judge will hold our place and we already broke steve's rule of not seeing each other before this court thing." you nod, letting him pull you towards the building where the next step of your relationship lies.
