James

I stared at the empty space as Jace retrieved himself back into the dark. His figure was not visible to anyone other than his cold demeanour lingering behind. His attitude was unsympathetic than I had ever witnessed. But not a single bit of dishonesty could be sensed within him.

What was all that about?

I don't know. - My wolf sighed.

I didn't even ask you.

I wonder why I am still sticking to you even after everything you had done to me.

All thanks to Drake and his herbal magic. I'm your companion, you don't get to leave me so easily.

Unfortunately. He should be banned for making such drugs.

Look, I'm not in the mood of having a debate with you right now.

Neither am I. -He grumbled, his sound tedious than before.

Do you have any idea what's going on with Jace? -I asked.

Actually no. -He replied and blocked me off.

Jace's behaviour was totally unexpected, for I had never seen him so calm and tranquilised like this before. Even though mom literally assaulted him with abusive words, he didn't fire back anything. Instead, he calmly shrugged at her contemptuous behaviour and walked away. He was unusually calm and the fact that his attitude towards her was cold, intrigued me. He was never callous towards her no matter how coarse she seemed to be. And now he just calumniously bashed the silence straight to her face.

"Did you see how your favourite son reacted?" Mom cried, stomping her foot on the floor, accusing about Jace to dad. He narrowed his eyes at her.

"You provoked him." He fired back, glaring at her equally, "Stop being single-eyed while judging our pups."

"Single eyed?" She laughed dryly, "Look who is talking." She vociferated looking at me.

I raised my hand in defence, shrugged in acknowledgement. The best option for me was to stay quiet. If not then the chances of me being impugned by them were positive.

"Why are you not saying anything, James?" Mom's voice blared, making me look at them.

Her face was crimson as tear-stained eyes glared at me. Dad, on the other hand, looked frustrated, his arms folded on his chest as he stood there putting up a fight for Jace.

Jace being the older son got his own privileges. He was dad's favourite no matter what he did and got his support in every difficult predicament. Maybe only this little fragments was what differentiated us to bits. Even though we were born brothers by blood, maybe the acceptance was missing in between causing all these.

"What am I suppose to say here?" I muttered under my breath, "Stop fighting, please."

"What a fair dismissal from an Alpha." Dad groaned, "I'm not single-eyed and I do not always prefer Jace," he sighed.

Yeah sure. A part of my subconsciousness commented to what dad just claimed.

"If I did then I wouldn't have had banished him six years ago from this pack, for your sake." He mumbled, almost inaudibly.

"You did it for your own reputation." Mom accused. She faced towards her mate, anger radiating as she scowled at him.

"I want my sons to be the best Alphas they can be, I want them to rule with power and passion." He announced, his voice loud and eyes glowing with pride.
