I hated to admit, Jace never failed to amuse me, more like scare the shit out of me every time he passed by. He had an amoral aura surrounding him as a whole which never left his side. And moreover, he always brought bad news and tonight was no different.
He never knew the correct subtle way to inform something. His way of giving out the information contained nothing rather than suspense and thrills which in turn could be life-threatening for those consisting a weak heart. Hell, who in the world would like so much suspense, especially when the entire book of myth was enough to get one's mind all messed up.
My current situation was no different, filled with dismay as usual. I didn't know whether he was pulling an experiment in hopes of getting me all worked up for nothing- or maybe he was aware of something which he was trying to pass it on to me.
"Did you even listen to what I just said?" Jace waved his palm in front of my face.
My gaze shifted back to his face from the wall which comparatively was more intriguing than his conversation. "Yeah, I heard. But how can you be so sure about us being the next target?" I asked. This had to be a sick joke he was trying to pull.
"No shit, it surely doesn't take much effort to figure that out. However, I'm not a hundred per cent sure whether my assumptions are going to be accurate or not, I would suggest you to just work the defective areas out and be safe."
"Why do you care so much?" The question came out suddenly before I could even realise what I was asking him.
He smiled and shook his head, "I don't care, I'm just here to work some things out and well let's just say I was handed the job of babysitting your pack for the time being. At least till the moment where you guys won't call me for help anymore. It's like stabilizing you."
"Seriously? Answer me this- why are you so self-conceited?" I raised an eyebrow. I couldn't remember a single time when we had a proper conversation like siblings do without a single trace of hatred and rivalry.
"Sure. Blame it on me." He laughed, "As always, anyway, back to the topic, I would suggest you to-"
"-No wait, What do you mean by 'as always'?" I condemned it.
"Nothing." He replied in a monotonous manner, "You don't need to know everything. You're the Alpha of this pack your duty is to just look into your pack and make sure it's well off instead of digging into matters where you don't belong."
"I didn't ask you for your advice about how to run a pack. Fuck, why would I even ask you out of all the people? You were ousted from the pack if I remember correctly." I scowled.
"And then you say I'm the conceited one." He chuckled. "I wonder when you'll grow up, brother."
"Stop testing my patience like that," I warned glaring at him.
"Even I don't want to. Just do as I say for a couple of days and set me free, I'm wasting so much time on you guys, you people don't even listen to me." He complained, "Worthless you all are, brother."
I snarled at his response, "You're the one to talk. Ousted, remember?"
"Yes, I do remember." He smiled, "Very well."
A sudden feeling of guilt roamed around inside my head. Maybe I should just let the past slide instead of bringing it up every time but I couldn't help it. He was forcing me to be rude to him.
"Uh." I cleared my throat, "About your suggestions, I might take some action according to it."
"Ah, you're doing such a great favour on me." He mocked, "Thank you, my lord."
