Alina

"Oh, by the way, I'm Luke and this is my Beta Neil." He said pointing at the guy standing right next to him. Smiles crept up on both their lips and they looked at each other.

Neil turned to face me and smiled, "Alina, you should come along to the pack house with us." He paused to look at his Alpha as if he was asking for permission. "You are in an inappropriate condition right now," he said scanning me, "For all the unmated wolves out there."

A scowl appeared on Alpha Luke's face as he narrowed his eyes and glared at his beta. "Ignore Neil, he is just worried that his mate will beat him to a pulp if she sees him with you, right Neil?" Alpha Luke said pulling an elastic smile on his face.

Neil scoffed in response and looked at me, "You didn't reply to our Alpha's offer yet. Are you willing to join this pack?"

We have no other option but to accept their offer. — My wolf stated.

There must be something else we could do, right?

No there is not. What he said about us being a target without shelter is true. The best option for us to be safe is to accept the offer.

"I accept your offer." I articulated looking at them.

"But there is one thing I would like you to answer, why did you actually leave the Shadow Light pack, your own house?" Luke inquired, his eyes full of curiosity.

"Mate issues," I answered, cutting all the details out.

Even though I was no longer a member of the Shadow Light pack, as the daughter of the Alpha, I was aware of the fact that leaking one's news to another pack was illegal and disastrous.
It brought in all sorts of enmity along with destruction.

I could not tell him about the production of wolfsbane. Neither could I leak the news of my parents being out and my brother threatening to kill me.

"So what you mean is you are completely disconnected from them?" Neil asked, not entirely believing my answer.

"Yes," I mumbled looking at the ground. It was true I was disconnected from them.

"And you won't leak any of our news to them?"

"No, I won't," I answered honestly. I had no intention to bring trouble upon anyone.

"And you don't have any problem to join our pack?"

"I don't."

Alpha Luke smiled once again, "Will you be a faithful member?"

"Yes."

"That's fantastic!" Both of them chirped in unison.

I narrowed my gaze as I stood there analysing their behaviour. They had cheeky grins on their face. It was different than what I expected. Their cheerful personality seemed awfully persuasive to me.

Why were they being so nice to someone they just met, especially a rogue?

It made no sense.

I stood in front of the pack house scanning its structure. It looked different in comparison to what I have had seen till now. In comparison to the Shadow Light pack house, this one had octagonal-shaped roofs along with huge curtains hanging loosely from the topmost floor. The curtains were large to cover the entire pack house itself. The windows were huge and most probably had enough space for an adult wolf to jump through.

"Welcome to the main Pack House of The Red Blood pack," Luke announced, breaking my trance of thoughts.

I turned my gaze towards him as he ushered me inside the house. I slowly took steps forwards and somehow managed to keep up with the energetic speed of both the men in front of me.

"You'll be staying here for the night." Luke suddenly stopped in front of a door. He pushed the door open revealing a small clean room.

"This is going to be your room for tonight. We will eventually move you to a better room after you are officially announced as our pack member." He said his eyes roaming around in search of something. I walked inside after him.

"Here, change into these." Neil appeared through the door and handed me a pair of trousers and a tee-shirt.

"Thanks," I mumbled, my voice barely audible.

The silence was threatening when suddenly a loud growl escaped from my stomach.

Both the men in front of me looked at each other.

Luke chuckled, "I'll send you some food and then you can sleep."

My cheeks heated up in embarrassment and I stood there looking at the clean tiled floor.

They both left closing the door behind them.

I changed into the pair of clean clothes Beta Neil was kind enough to hand. When suddenly a somewhat familiar voice reached my ears.

"Neil, go do the background research of that girl. I swear if she is a spy then I wouldn't hesitate to kill her myself."

Meanwhile
James

"Why is it all blank?" I frowned, slowly turning the pages with my trembling fingers.

"I don't know," Drake whispered, his voice softer than before.

The Book of Myths was rewritten and the sorcerer's appearance was its proof. But the blank pages itself sent chills down my spine. The eerie feeling of something bad was drowning me in. And the chances of me surviving was nowhere to be seen.

"I can't believe this." I sighed, closed the book and put it aside.

"It'll appear soon enough, don't beat yourself about it." Drake patted my shoulder.

"I'm trying not to," I mumbled.

James? Your dad wants to talk to you. Meet him in his office. Mom informed through our mind link.

"And then the devil calls." I groaned.

"What's wrong?" Drake asked, "Your face just drained another shade of colour."

"Alpha's call." I rolled my eyes, "Hand me the book, I'll drop it by inside Dad's office."

"Here." He said picking the book up from the bed and handing it to me.

The cold surface of the book rubbing against my palm, made my heart rate accelerate. The restrained feeling deep within mixed with the rapidness of my heartbeat made it no easier.

"I think you should get going now." Drake avered.

I nodded and walked out of the room.

"You called?" I asked as I walked inside the office to see dad doing some paperwork.

"Don't you have the manners of knocking before barging in?" He growled at me.

"Sorry." I sighed as I walked towards his desk and placed the book on top.

"What were you doing with the Book of Myths?" He narrowed his gaze looking at the book.

"Just checking."

"Anyway, did you find your mate yet? Or are you planning to run away like the coward you are?"

"I'm not a coward." I growled at his accusation, "And yes, I have found my mate."

"Who is she?" He raised an eyebrow.

"Hailey."
