You and Dom sat on the couch as your daughter Talia sat on the living room floor playing with her Barbies. Dom was watching the Doncaster Rovers match on the TV and you were playing with Talia while still sitting on the couch.

"Daddy?" She asked as she moved up sitting by Dom's feet. He grunted, keeping his attention on the TV. "Will you play with me?" She asked, holding out a Barbie for him. He grumbled. "In a bit Taz," He said, his eyes not wandering.

You gave him a dirty look but he didn't seem to notice. "In an hour?" She asked. He ignored her. "In a few hours?" Talia asked. "I don't know!" He said in a raised voice. And Talia's used to Dom's usual shouting, it was enough to make anyone jump.

Tears welled in Talia's arms as she let go of Dom's leg, running upstairs. "Dominic Harrison!" You said in a disgusted tone. As soon as you used his full name, he knew he'd fucked up. "I can't believe you'd talk to her like that!" You said. "You know I'm trying to watch the game,"

"So you want Talia to remember you how I remember my dad?"

Dom immediately gasped, and you knew you struck a nerve. But it was a nerve, however sensitive it was, in this situation, needed to be struck. He knew the trauma and issues you had from your dad, and what your childhood was like.

You hated your dad. He was your worst enemy. He wasn't emotionally available for you, always being rude, shouting at you, getting frustrated, you never did anything right, it was always your fault. And even when you and Dom started dating, he saw it still affected you.

How you'd approach social interaction, your either fear of men or a desperate want for their validation and to appease them, the trust issues, both in having zero trust in anyone or being overly trusting in people who didn't deserve to be treated.

Getting yourself caught up in abusive and toxic friendships, and in the past some relationships. If there was one thing Dom was insanely desperate to be as a dad, it was the opposite of what your dad was. That comparison broke him.

"Y/N! No! Of course not!" He exclaimed, horrified at the even possible comparison. "Well Dom, I'll tell you something, it started young, I remember as long as I can remember, him being abusive, and it started like this," You said.

"And I don't want Talia having to go through the shit I did," You said, as your eyes began to well with tears. You knew Dom wasn't abusive, of course you did, but all of it had brought up so many bad memories and it was all spilling out.

"Love," He said, quickly getting up, wrapping his arms around you softly, rubbing your back gently, trying to calm you down. "Please..." You begged. "Just make it up to her," You said, laying your head against Dom's chest.

Tears were welling in Dom's own eyes, he knew he'd messed up, and he could kick himself repeatedly over the head for how stupid he was being. One, getting annoyed at Talia, when she's only a child, and his child at that.

And then also knowing what you'd been through, and still doing it. He knew one thing, he needed to make it up to her, and fix it. Or it was only going to get worse. He wiped his eyes as he left the hug, beginning to go upstairs.

"I'm going to apologize to her," Dom explained as he went up the first few steps of the staircase. "Good," You said, glad he was going to do something about it. He went upstairs, and knocked on her bedroom door. "Taz?" He asked.

"Go away!" She said, clearly upset. "Talia Anne Harrison," He said. He'd picked up your habit of calling her by her full name when you were being serious. "Fine," Talia said, annoyed. Dom opened the door, and saw Talia with her arms folded, facing the wall.

"I'm so sorry Talia," He said, sitting down on the floor, across the room from you. "You're a big meanie!" She said, wiping her eyes with her sleeve. "I am. I'm a big meanie. Can you forgive me, the big meanie?" He asked, holding out his hand.

She looked back, an annoyed look on her face as well as a pout. "Please? You can get anything you want," He said. "Anything?" She asked, excitement in her eyes. "Within reason," Dom added quickly, Talia pouting before deciding what she wanted.

"I want dino nuggies for dinner,"

Dom couldn't help but laugh. He couldn't help but find her adorable. She was so sweet. "You can have dino nuggies for dinner, Taz," He said. She agreed, turning around so she could look at him. "And you have to play Barbies with me," She added.

"Of course I'll play Barbies with you," Dom said. "Yay!" She said, excitedly. "Can I get a hug?" He asked. Talia agreed, walking over to him and cuddling him. He giggled as he wrapped his arms tightly around her. "Here's the kiss monster!" He said, making roaring noises.

Burying his face in her neck and making biting and roaring noises, she squealed as he pressed kisses all over her cheeks and her upper body. As you came upstairs with the Barbies she'd left downstairs, you quickly saw the game they were playing.

"And here comes the tickle monster!" You added as Dom held Talia down, you tickled her. She squealed and giggled as Dom still kissed her. "Lemme go!" Talia squealed. You both stopped. "Now here comes the kiss monster for Mummy!" Dom said, kissing your cheek.

"Yuck!" Talia said, sticking her tongue out of her mouth. "What do you mean yuck?" Dom said, playing with your hair. She ignored you, going over to get her Barbies. As Dom looked over at you, he could immediately tell from the look in your eyes,

All was forgiven.
