tw for panic attack, also note, i know panic attacks affect people differently, this is just how they affect me personally and how they calm me down, not trying to invalidate anyone's experience with them ok thx
desc: you get up in a pretty bad accident and need an IV. with your anxiety, a fear of needles and shaken up from the accident, a panic attack ensues. it's up to your doctor dominic harrison to calm you down, but he doesn't do a half bad job at it.
"y/n just drive home safe," your mate said as you climbed into your car. "it's fine mate, i'm not that drunk!" you whined. this was definitely not true as you'd almost forgotten to take off your party shoes for your trainers in the car to drive home. you began to drive home and the minute you got close to the main road, everything turned into a massive blur.
the road and trees merged into each other, cars and other people on the road turned into mere smudges of colour that didn't have a form or significance on the blurry grey blue haze that was your vision. everything seemed to feel like ice as your hands slipped and slid as you drove.
your hands kept letting go of the steering wheel, grabbing and grappling with it. then it happened. the whole moment felt like seconds and like it was in slow-mo at the exact same time. you couldn't keep holding onto the wheel. you slid off the road and your car crashed straight into a tree offside of the road. thankfully, a police car doing it's rounds, it being a saturday night after all.
they noticed your car and immediately called for an ambulance to come get you. whilst they were there, they checked if you were conscious. you weren't. your leg was bleeding but not enough to the point it seemed that some medical attention could heal it.
dom's pov
i ran to the car as was usual procedure for emergency call outs. "what's the emergency?" i asked as my coworker katie got everything ready. "young person, 20 to 21 years of age, got into car wreck, bleeding from the leg, possible concussion, we'll need an IV" she said, turning the sirens on and belting it down the road. i was used to the rush of adrenaline that came from it but this felt different.
i brushed it off as we arrived at the scene. in a couple of minutes, we were there. katie with the medical kit in hand, i ran to get her. my heart dropped at the sight of their car. the whole front of the car was completely smashed in and the glass was shattered, thankfully falling out the other ways instead of inside.
they seemed pretty well off, well as well as you could for being in that sort of state. i ran and lifted my hand through the window to open the car seat from the inside. i ran in and undid their seatbelt, grabbing them and lifting them out of the car. they were still unconscious but a hold of their wrist showed me they were still breathing. i layed them on the bed in the back of the car.
katie tossed me the medical kit. "deal with their injuries, look for ID, we're going back to the hospital!" she said. my heart sank slightly, i'd hoped that they'd not needed to go to hospital. i leant them up against the chair bed as i did up their knee in bandages. whilst doing it up, i found an ID, it had fallen out of their jean pocket. "KATIE!" i called back.
"their names Y/N L/N, 20 years old!" i said. "copy!" she responded. then they started to stir awake. "i-i-" i heard from them. "we have consciousness from the victim" i called back to katie. "w-wha-t?" they said. as they went back to consciousness, i tried explaining what happened to them.
this didn't go well and started a large spiral of anxiety. they seemed to be panicking about anything and everything apart from themselves and the fact they were injured. "did anyone else get injured?" "where's my phone?!", "is everyone else ok?!", "where's my keys?" was a few of the others. "please, focus on yourself" i said.
3rd person pov
they got to the hospital and dom immediately pulled you into the room. "dom we need you to administer the IV" katie said, passing him the needle. despite being tired and injured, you started thrashing and panicking, dom noticing all the signs of a panic attack. he sat down on the bed. he noticed your hands shaking so immediately held it softly.
"shush, it's ok, you're ok" he said, wrapping his arms tightly around him. "i'm scared" you said crying and upset. "i know, i know, but you'll have to trust me darling" dom said, holding them to his chest. "it'll be over before you know it ok, i'll have your hand the whole time, you won't feel anything after that, and you'll feel a lot better about it in the morning" dom said.
dom did some breathing exercises with you to calm you down and after maybe 10 minutes, you trusted him enough. you closed your eyes and dom held your hand as he injected the IV. you made a small noise that could only be distinguished as a squeak. "good, good, good girl, you did amazing" dom said, putting the needles away.
you felt yourself become drowsy and the room became dizzy and disoriented. "that's normal, ok, when you're comfortable, close your eyes and let yourself fall asleep, you'll feel better in the morning" you promised. you let yourself fall asleep and lose consciousness for the night.
when you woke up, you saw dom standing at the bed, cleaning some things. "good morning darling, you feel better?" he asked kindly.
"better with you"
