~Princess <3
Ana stepped out of the elevator with Rashidi at her side and the two Officers behind her. The brunette moved towards the exit but stopped in her tracks when she spotted Jay and a bloodied Hailey, both vested, in the ED.
"You guys bring him in and get his statement." Ana ordered, nodding to the boy.
The Officers nodded and one grabbed Rashidi from her before leaving. The brunette watched them go before rushing over to the two partners.
"Hailey, Bluejay!" She called, stopping behind them as they turned to face her. "What happened? Are you two okay?"
"We were going after a few gun dealers when they opened fire and a few bystanders got hit." Jay explained.
"Blood's not mine." Hailey assured
"What about you, Sarge? Why are you here?" The male Detective asked, slightly concerned.
"Fire victim." Was all Ana said. "Mind if I ride with you guys? I came here with Matt."
Jay nodded and Hailey did the same while discreetly shooting the older woman an annoyed glare.
*District 21: Office*
Hank was standing hunched over his desk when Jay walked in, no longer wearing his bulletproof vest.
"Hey, sorry. I just got your call. Finally located the girl's mother and found Ana in the process." He explained, making the older man's gaze snap over to the figure behind him as he stood up straight.
"Hey, Henry." She smiled in greeting, but it faded slightly at the serious look on her husband's face.
Hank gave her a soft nod in reply and turned back to Jay.
"Shut the door." He instructed.
"What's up?" The Detective inquired, doing as he's told.
"I just talked to Ballistics. The bullet that hit the little girl was a nine-millimeter." Hank informed, grimly.
"Thought the bangers were firing .45s." Jay recalled, confused.
"They were." The older man confirmed and Ana slapped a hand over her mouth in disbelief at what he was implying.
"You saying I shot that little girl?" Jay whispered, eyes widening in horror.
All Hank could do was nod in response.
*Parking Lot: A While Later*
Hank and Ana were leaning against the gate while waiting for Jay to return. The two were standing in silence when the older man suddenly remembered something and looked down at his wife.
"Princess, there's something you should know." Hank sighed, gaining Ana's attention. "There's an independent auditor reviewing the shooting and it's Denny Woods. Just. . .be careful around him, okay?"
The brunette looked up at him with, wide, fearful eyes and the older man went to say something else when Jay appeared. Ana plastered on a smile as the Detective walked over and the two Sergeants met him halfway.
"Hey, man." Hank greeted. "How'd the interview with the shooting team go?"
"I'm not sure. It was pretty short. They didn't ask me too many questions." Jay replied as he stopped in front of the two.
"Okay." Ana nodded and three took a step towards the District.
"Jay." A familiar voice called and they all turned to see Kim walking over. "How you doing?"
