Squints says "yo, what's up, dog?" I say "sup, dude, The Jet wants to get the band back together, you in for this weekend?" Squints says "totally, man, Wendy wants to talk to you, so give her a call in the morning, she's working right now" and I smile saying "thanks, Squints, can you pass the message for me?" He says "yeah, man, you gonna call Ham?" I say "yup, he doesn't listen to you" and he says "yeah, I was going to ask you to if you said no" and I chuckle saying "have you talked to Mr. Mertle?" Squints says "yeah, I just got off the phone with him, I swear that man is gonna live forever" and we chuckle and I say "I'll see you this weekend, Squints" and he says "yeah, see you, dude" and we hang up. I call Ham and I put it on speaker saying "hey, dude" and the kids and my fiancé comes out of their rooms as Ham says "hey, princess, I'm surprised you're awake" and I say "I don't sleep all the time." He says "ok, sure, what's up?" I say "were getting the band back together" and he says "hell yeah, who's idea was this?" I say "my man, going over there this weekend, thought you'd wanna play for a while" and he says "I'm in, lets do it, do I get to meet these punk ass kids of yours yet?" I chuckle saying "yeah, maybe you'll strike out before them if we get them up to the plate" and Ham says "their dad is the best player known to man since The Babe, I'm sure they'll get home runs" chuckling. Benny points at himself saying "that's me" and I say "he can hear you, he doesn't need the ego boost, Ham" and we chuckle and Ham says "he'll suffer when I make a home run before him." Benny says "Ham, you're nuts" and we laugh and Ham says "ok, I gotta go, I'll see you later?" Ham says "definitely, see you this weekend" and we chuckle and Ham we hang up and I say "hope you're ready to get heaters from DeNunez this weekend" and Benny says "I'm ready" chuckling. I bite my lip and Elijah says "I'm not a punk" and Benny pats his shoulder and points at me saying "that's your dad, you're a punk" and I flip him off. Isa says "just embrace it" and we chuckle and Elijah says "I'm a good boy" and we chuckle and I say "keep telling yourself that." We laugh and I hear a knock on the door and Isa says "I'll get it" and I say "who the hell could that be? Don't get that" and I grab my jacket and put it on cause I know my knife is in it and I answer it saying "hey, guys" seeing its my mans team. They nod and I say "what's up?" One of them say "came to watch the game" and I say "alright, come in" stepping out of the way and I take my jacket off casually and I put it on the back of a chair. Benny says "beers in the fridge if you want some" as he turns on the TV they all grab beer and Isa says "who are these guys?" I say "all of the LA Dodgers?" She says "no way" and I say "yeah way" and Elijah says "The Dodgers are in my living room?!" Benny says "my living room, homeboy" and Isa says "this your castle now?" Benny says "my castle" and I say "this is my castle and I'm the queen, shut up all of you" chuckling and Benny says "ok, buddy." I roll my eyes and I chuckle and the kids go to watch the game with Benny and all the guys. Since we adopted the twins, they've been in love with baseball and writing, Elijahs more into the game and Isa is more into writing but they both like both. They were always taught in an orphanage this is for girls and this is for boys but as soon as they got here, we just let them do as they wish as long as they weren't getting in too much trouble. You kind of have to teach them that when they have two dads and one is a journalist and ones a pro baseball player. Isa comes back to me saying "how long have you and dad been together?" I say "twelve years" and she says "that's a long time" and I chuckle saying "yeah, it really is" and she says "did you ever break up?" I say "no" and she says "really?" I say "sometimes we were a bit strained but other than that, there was nothing stopping us" smiling and she says "when would that be, being strained?" I say "I was in college and he was playing ball with The Dodgers as the new guy, just like most of the guys in the living room right now, three hours away and I was getting two degrees at once, we'd see each other like once every three or four months. It really put a strain on us at the time but we were young, it was a lot more strenuous then than it would be if it was now" and she nods saying "I get that, dads taking us to the cages tomorrow morning" and I say "he is? That's fun" and she says "yeah, I'm excited, I've never done that before, is it safe?" I say "honey, your father would never do anything with you if it put you in danger, he cares about you guys immensely" and she says "what does that mean?" I say "it means he cares about you a lot" and I hear yelling in the living room and I go out there and she comes with me and I say "what happened?" Benny says "guy made a home run" and I chuckle saying "cool" shaking my head and smiling and we go back to the living room.
