Harley's POV
The guys play for a couple hours then they take a break which they don't normally do and the guys are just hyperventilating and sweating. I say "never mind yesterday being the hottest day of the year, I'm dying and I'm not even playing" and Benny says "ready for another round?" They all groan and I say "as much as I'd enjoy watching you sweat, you're going to give these guys and yourself heatstroke, love." Ham whines saying "it's so hot" and everyone says something like that too and Benny exasperatedly says "pool?" Everyone cheers and they all immediately leave and run home and I say "walk with me?" I stand up and I pull Benny up saying "come on, you would've passed out if you played anymore, love" squeezing his hand then letting go. He mumbles "maybe you're right" and I chuckle saying "or there would've been heat exhaustion and that's not fun." I bite my lip and I say "you can play tomorrow" chuckling and we go to our houses and I change into swimwear and I wait for Scott. I say "lets go" as he comes out of his room and we go to the pool, meeting up with everyone as we walk to the pool. Benny comes up next to me saying "hey" and I bite my lip saying "hey" checking him out and his shirt isn't even off yet and he pushes my shoulder and we get to the pool. Everyone takes their shirts off and jumps in the pool and I bite my lip and I take my shirt off, running my hand through my hair. Several girls stare at me and all the guys are gawking at this one lifeguard and I mumble "time to make moves" and I go over to her lifeguard stand. I say "hey" and she turns to me saying "hey" smiling and I say "how's it going?" She says "good, it's getting hot though" chuckling and I say "no, I thought it was snowing" sarcastically and she chuckles saying "I'm Wendy" shaking my hand and I say "Harley. People just love to stare at you don't they?" She says "you get used to it" waving at Squints and I say "I think you killed him" and we chuckle and Wendy says "he'll be just fine, what are you doing later?" I know she's asking me out in some way so act oblivious. I say "hanging out with my family and friends probably" and she says "oh yeah, me too, never mind" and we chuckle. She says "I'm forgetful sometimes" and I say "all of us are" chuckling and biting my lip and she says "you must be used to people staring at you too" and I say "yeah, if they wanna talk to me that badly they will, ya know?" She says "you're right" and I say "I just let them come to me, I don't really try anymore." Ok, that's a lie, if I want it, I'm getting it, if I don't want it, I'll get around it. She says "must be why you're single huh?" I say "probably but it's not a big deal for me" shrugging and she says "you sure?" I say "yeah, if I wanted it, I'd get it, right?" She says "I like the way you think" smiling then the guys are freaking out and Squints isn't there and she says "gotta go" diving off the lifeguard stand. I mumble "fuck" going over to the group that have gathered outside of the pool and I stand behind Benny and squeeze his shoulder saying "what's happening?" I let go and he says "Squints jumped into the deep end, doesn't know how to swim" biting his lip anxiously and I rub his back saying "he'll be ok" quietly. I look at him then they bring Squints up and I rest my hands on Bennys muscular shoulder, looking over at Squints as Wendy gives him mouth to mouth. When Wendy isn't looking, Squints looks over and smiles devilishly and when Wendy comes back to give mouth to mouth, he pushes her head down so he's kissing her. I mumble "smooth" and Benny taps my forehead and I mumble "rude" as he gets dragged out by Wendy who is calling him a perv. Once we get to the outside of the pool fence Ham says "were you planning that?!" Squints says "I've been planning that for years" and I chuckle saying "smooth but I don't recommend doing that again" chuckling and he goes over to the fence and Wendy waves at him and he waves back like the child he is. I chuckle and we all walk to our houses, looking at all the stuff that's out for the forth of July and I say "woah, fireworks." Benny says "never seen fireworks before?" Scott says "no, he's an arsonist and enjoys fireworks more than he should" and I say "shut up, I'm not an arsonist" and he says "you like to burn things, you're an arsonist." I say "shut up" and we chuckle and Benny says "I'll see you guys later?" Scott nods and goes inside then I say "yeah" biting my lip and I clasp my hands together and he says "once it gets dark, we'll probably be at the sandlot if you wanna join?" I say "maybe I will, yeah" nodding and he says "great, I'll see you later" looking from my eyes to my lips once then he jogs off. I mumble "I'm gonna have to do it, aren't I?" I shake my head mumbling "I just want him to do it first" rolling my eyes and I go inside and make a sandwich then I eat at the table. I then go to my room and someone knocks and I say "come in" and my mom comes in and sits on my bed saying "have you been talking to that boy?" I say "yes, mom" and she says "tell me about him! What's he like?!" I say "he's hot and plays baseball" and she says "what else?" I say "he's nice and basically gives only me the time of day compared to all his friends according to Scott." She says "that's so cute" smiling and I say "chill out" and she says "has he made a move yet?" I say "no, almost did twice but I'm going to do it if he chickens out again cause he's driving me nuts, mom" and she says "you'll be fine" chuckling and leaving and I eventually fall asleep.
