Isa's POV
Luke says "that's your dad?" I say "yeah, why?" He says "I don't know, it's just insane I guess" shrugging and I say "oh yeah, he's cool but he's also kind of weird." We laugh and we decide that were just gonna walk around and he says "so, do you know how to play baseball?" I say "yeah, I'd say I'm pretty good too but it's not my life" and he says "what is your life then?" I say "writing, I wanna write a book someday" and he smiles saying "why not start now?" I say "I don't know what to write about, maybe I'll start this summer, find something to write about." He says "that's really cool" and I say "what's your life?" He says "drawing, its weird, I know but drawing is fun" and I say "that's cool" smiling then I say "what do you like to draw?" He says "I like to draw comic strips and make short stories with them" and I smile saying "that is the coolest thing ever" and he says "well, I'm the coolest, so makes sense, right?" I chuckle, rolling my eyes saying "you sound like my dad, he's always saying stuff like that" us laughing and Luke says "so, he's an asshole?" I say "no, he's just strange" and we laugh and he says "sounds like an asshole" and I say "he's probably the best person ever, you can't knock him until you've hung out with him." Our hands brush as we walk and I laugh when I see my brother making out with some tall jock looking guy and I mumble "that's a tall glass of water right there" and Luke says "what are you looking at?" I mumble "my brother a scored a ten, I'm so proud" and he says "I don't get it still" and I say "come deliver advice with me" and Luke says "ok?" I go up too them and I wolf whistle and Elijah says "fuck off, I'm busy" and I say "I advise you to take this somewhere private so you don't get hate crimed and I also advise don't take it to the house cause our parents are probably getting it on." Elijah says "when are they not?" I say "well, we don't exactly get out much, they cherish these moments that were not there, so that's all I got for you, buddy" and Elijah checks Luke out again saying "let me know when you wanna trade." I say "saucy" and Luke and I keep walking and once we get away from them, Luke says "your brother is gay?" I say "yeah, problem?" He says "no, you don't see it very often" and I say "yeah cause everyone is so religious nowadays and was in the past that most of them are hiding in plain sight, some are more obvious than others" nodding in my brothers direction. We chuckle and he says "really?" I say "yeah, you'd be surprised" nodding and he says "that's insane" and I say "wanna get ice cream?" He says "sure" and we go in to get ice cream and we order then we sit at a table to wait. Wendy Peffercorn comes into the store and I wave her over and Lukes jaw is on the floor and she says "I still got it" and we chuckle. I say "what are you doing around these parts?" She says "I thought I'd come up have a chat with your father or something" and I say "about? Spill, sister" and we chuckle and she says "I got engaged" and I say "congratulations, Squints did it" and she says "thought he never would, he's a dork." I chuckle saying "well, dad now owes me fifty big ones" and we laugh and I say "he thought he wouldn't do it" and we chuckle. She says "I saw you in the window so I thought I'd say hi, I'll see you at some point" and I say "yeah, sure" and we smile and she says "I'm taking you shopping sometime." I say "deal" and she leaves and Luke says "how do you know her?" I say "one of dads longtime friends now fiancé" and he says "cool" nodding and we talk for awhile at the ice cream shop them we get up and walk around for a couple hours more. He then says "can I kiss you?" I nod and he kisses me and now I know how all of my favorite book characters feel, feels like a bunch of fireworks in the pit of my stomach. Then we pull away and I mumble "wow" and he says "do you wanna come over?" I say "sure" and we walk to his house and he says "my dads nuts, don't be alarmed" and I say "I've seen a lot, I'm sure I won't be" and he says "no, my dad thinks he knows your dad like they're besties or something." We chuckle and I say "my dad knows a lot of people, so, they might be besties" us laughing and we go in. I see Ham in the living room and I say "why is he here?" Luke says "that's my dad" and I say "our dads are besties" and Ham gets up saying "well, well, well, if it isn't Miss. Rodriguez" and I say "Ham, it's been forever" and he hugs me. He says "I know it has, you've grown" and I say "I've been hanging out with my dad too much" and we laugh. I pull away saying "ok, when did this happen?" Ham says "adopted like a week ago?" Luke says "yeah, a week ago" and we chuckle and I say "well, congratulations, Luke, I don't think our dads would let us date" and Ham says "you gotta convince Benny and Harley first, guys, I literally don't give a shit, if you get with that family though, you aren't gonna find anything better, so don't screw it up" and Luke says "who's that?" I say "you're kidding, right?" Ham says "I think we have to get the band back together so my kid can meet all the dummies." We laugh and I say "I miss those guys, they're quite entertaining, I think we should" and Luke says "you were in a band?" I say "it's an expression" chuckling and I say "I can get father to make phone calls" and we chuckle and I say "I think they might be doing it but I'm willing to risk going to my house." Ham says "risqué" and I say "gross" us chuckling and Luke and I go to my house after we talk to Ham for a bit.
