"Sue us? Why the hell are they suing us?" I asked in horror as the boy told me and my best friend about the plan of his fraternity's big brother.

What an early morning surprise upon opening our shop the following day of my best friends' ex's wedding.

"That's why I'm here to warn you," Tom answered as a matter of fact.

"Wait, have you read the piece of note I handed you before we went to the church for that effin' wedding?" my best friend redirected the issue.

"No. Let's not talk about that. Let's talk about this trouble that we are about to face," I warned her.

"Well, let's get a lawyer then," she said calmly.

"No! We can't afford to be in that big trouble!" I dejected. "All we have to do is just apologize," I added.

"I agree," the boy instantly butted in. I didn't notice that he was still there with us.

"Now thank you for your time in informing us of your big brother's plan. You may now leave," I commanded him.

"You better read that note, Anj or else," my best friend suddenly stood up, got her bag and motioned to leave.

"Now where do you think are you going?" I admonished her to get back and deal with the issue but I was late. She hastily left leaving me with the boy and the bad news the boy brought.

"Grrrr!!!! She always does this to me!" I exclaimed in desperation.

"It's okay. I'm here to help you out," the boy offered.

Despite of my ill-temperament towards him, he was persistent. Though I drove him away, he stayed.

"I agree with you that all you have to do is just apologize," the boy reiterated.

"How could I bring my best friend to apologize to her ex?" I asked.

"I can supply you with a rope for her neck for that," he replied without even smiling.

So I got to know him. He was such a hilarious person! He's got plenty of weird stuffs in his head that he ought to tell.

"Or let's blackmail her in being an old maid forever if she doesn't say sorry for her fault," he continued.

Eventually, I listened. Oh, why did I even bother?!

"And tell her she'll be cursed to death if she won't own up to her liability," I continued.

It was all because he was so importunate! So pesky whom you couldn't resist to entertain.

"It's already 12 midnight. We should hang up," I suggested yawning at the receiver of our landline. After a week, the boy suddenly became my constant someone-to-talk-to friend.

"You hang up first," Tom answered at the other line.

"No, you hang up first," I insisted.

"Ladies first," he also insisted.

"It's time to break that rule," I said smiling.

"So let's not hang up then," he ended our little debate.

So I entertained him because I was confident that he was harmless. And for the first time in my life, I had a textmate and a phone pal. Corny as this may, but I was flattered. Flattered to have someone make me smile for the very first time. Then the stranger became my friend. From his simple "hello" to sweet smiles, I felt alive. Because somewhere between all our laughs, long talks, stupid little fights, and all our jokes, I fell in love!
