"You're a pussy." Levina rolls her eyes as her grip on the steering wheel tightens. Her knuckles turning a lighter shade of brown.
"I'm not a pussy, I just don't want to watch the fucking Exorcist." His tone sounds irritated as he turns his head to her.
I'm sitting in the middle back seat, observing the two bickering.
They act like brother and sister, and it's entertaining to watch.
"I don't give a fuck. We are gonna watch it, you can close your damn eyes if you want." She continues.
Owen lets out an exasperated sigh, knowing that he isn't going to win this fight.
"Luna, you wanna watch The Excorist right?" She glances at me through her rear view mirror.
I love horror movies, and I've never watched it before, so I'm down.
"Sure!" I beam a smile at her to which she smirks in satisfaction.
Owen's quickly spins his head to face me, "Are you fucking nuts?" He's looking at me as if I have three heads.
"Yes."
He shakes his head and lets his back fall onto the leather seats once more.
"Don't worry Owen, you can hold my hand if you get scared. Since you're a scaredy cat." I say sarcastically while reaching over and pinching his cheek with the tips of my fingers.
He lightly slaps my hand away. "Stop pinching my cheeks. You remind me of a grandmother."
"Awe, I love grannies!" My heart warms at the thought of one of those cute old women who give warm hugs.
"Of course." He sighs and rolls his eyes.
"What's that supposed to mean?" I furrow my brows.
"You seem like the type of person to love grandparents." He explains while glancing back to meet my eyes.
My face muscles relax and a smile tugs at my lips. I'll take that as a compliment.
He hums.
"Put on some music, dweeb." Levina looks to Owen then to his phone.
He rolls his eyes at her. "Dweeb? Really?"
She purses her lips and side eyes him.
"Fine." He sighs.
The sound of Frank Ocean's voice fills my ears as I stare out the side window and at the houses we pass.
It's currently 7pm and we are on our way to Levina's house to watch horror movies like we had planned. I had asked my mom yesterday night if I could go and she hesitantly said sure. I know that she was only hesitant to say yes because of my dad, because of what would happen to me if he saw I wasn't home and learned that I had hung out with friends.
Except he still isn't home, thank god.
I brought a tote bag full of stuff I could need. Such as a book if I become disinterested in watching horror movies, chapstick, my phone, a rock (because you never know when you'll need one of those), and a hair tie.
Levina lives in a rich area. The houses here are huge, practically mansions. The people here are also well dressed and look fancy. I feel out of place.
The music dies down as we finally arrive to her home.
Wow.
It's extremely large, with a white exterior and what I think is Victorian style. It's stunning.
