[Jae Lim]
"It's seven, honey. I need to check into the hotel you booked me."
I looked up at her, holding her suitcases away from her, shaking my head. "Stay for dinner or something. They won't be troubled if you make them wait for a little. It's almost time for dinner, so why don't you eat here?"
She smiled at me, reaching out to squeeze my cheek. "Aren't you so cute? I need to get back and set my stuff down and then I'm going to continue exploring the food they have here. The old place that I booked was in the epicenter of food heaven. I'd love to have dinner, but I have so much to explore."
"You...You can't be out past nine if you're alone and if you want to go out when it's dark, take me with you, ok? I don't care where you're going, but I can't let you go around when it's dark." My eyes were practically pleading with her to comply with me. I was holding onto her sleeve, not even thinking about letting go until she agreed.
"Yes, yes, I'll do all that, but don't you think it's a bit much?" She tilted her head amused.
I shook my head. "You can never be safe. It's gotten especially dangerous here since we've become fractured."
She patted my head, reassuring me. "Ok, ok. I'll listen but if she shows up and says yes to the plan, I'm replacing your bodyguarding duty with her, ok?"
"Fine, now let me help you move your stuff over to your room and I'll let you go for the night." I grabbed onto her luggage. "They don't need me to prepare dinner, so let's go. I'm not missing anything."
I grabbed my key this time and then headed out into the elevator, holding it open for her to come in. It didn't take too long since we only needed to walk down the street to get to the grand hotel. It was fancier inside the building than it was outside. I grabbed the set of keys, keeping one for myself and giving the other to Valeriya.
"You gave me such a nice room, honey. It's like a flat." Her eyes wandered the large area.
"It was a special suite. Your room service is a lot better here and I told them not to allow anyone into your room unless you allowed them."
I noticed a pad with the hotel's logo on it with a pen sitting beside it. I wrote my number down on a paper for her, folding it and putting it into her hand. "That's my burner phone at the moment. Put that in your phone so that in case anything happens, you text me or call me or something, ok?"
"Yes, yes." She waved me off while exploring the place.
It was quite a large area. There was even a small kitchen area to the left, a common area in the middle of the area as soon as you walked in. The bedroom area was off to the right, connected with a large pristine bathroom. There was a small washer and a rack to dry clothes on the far side of the common area. the far side of the common area had ceiling to floor glass sliding doors that opened up to a balcony area.
"Do you have weapons with you? I know gun laws are strict here, but I know those aren't your specialty." I eyed her back as I watched her wander around the room, now going to the bedroom to check it out.
"I brought my babies with me." She glanced back at me. "You know I don't leave anywhere without them."
I nodded in approval. "If you need any more, I'll call up my contacts and get you what you need."
"I know, honey, I know." She nodded her head, coming out of the bathroom and patted my head. "Now go and eat dinner with your housemates. I'll be looking for a place to eat nearby and I'll text you where I'm eating, when I get there and leave, and when I'm back at my place, ok? Does that ease all of that anxiety inside of you, Mr. Worrywart?"
