[Jae Lim]
"Noona," I called her from the other side of the ring, "Where should I put these?" I pointed toward the box of explosives.
"We're going to put them in a ring around the walls at the bottom and the top near the ceiling." She made a circular motion towards the ceiling of the Ring and turned back to where she was setting up the reinforced fencing between the "stage" and the audience.
As per usual, there was an elevated seating section for what should've been the head or the highest-ranking underbosses but were now us, the ones usurping the throne. On either corner of the railing of that section were machine guns, ready in case chaos broke out on the floor. We had set up metal detectors for all the entrances where Valeriya and I would be manning the input of people.
I was running around the Ring, trying to get all this excess energy out of my body. The excitement for Friday was building up in my body and I was too pumped for Friday to come. It seemed like it couldn't come any slower since it had felt like I spent two weeks setting everything up while the reality was, it had only been two days.
"Noona, you want to go grab something to eat? We're almost done here anyway."
"Finish this [and] then we'll go eat." She spoke sternly, giving me a mastered look to put me in place like she always used to do. I knew she already knew I was trying to escape setting up by going to go eat and then distract her from going back so that we didn't have to do any more work.
Begrudgingly, I began my trek up the steep steel steps to place the explosives up on the walls. I had a shot arm and she was still making me do this. I should've told Valeriya to take on this job instead of me since she was now just taking guns out of their boxes.
But I knew she didn't heights too much and she would've been complaining the entire time she was up here because the stairs "weren't stable enough."
How dramatic.
It took a few hours but those were the last hours we spent setting up for Friday's event. I didn't think I would be able to sleep tonight. I'd have to ask for a food coma to put me out of commission.
"Get in my car and decide what you want to eat. We're going back to my place though. I'll double-check everything and come out in a second." Noona waved us off to her car, the two of us racing for shotgun.
"Get in the back! You already rode shotgun with yunnie earlier! You didn't even invite me to go eat fried chicken!"
"It's not my fault that you like eating on your own, you food maniac!"
"Well, it's my turn to ride shotgun since you already stole it once! Unnie probably thinks it's better when I ride shotgun!"
"Yeah, better to get in a car crash than to have you sit next to her, you pestering little hag!"
We were busy physically fighting each other for the passenger seat when noona came to intervene, grabbing the both of us by our ears.
"Ow, noona!"
"Yunnie!"
We whined in sync, shooting glares at each other when we noticed, flipping each other off with both our hands.
"Since you two want to act like children fighting for passenger, you both will sit in the backseat." She dragged us by the ear from her passenger door to the backseat door, opening it with one hand and pushing us into the car. The car door closed quickly behind us and I went to glare at Valeriya.
