[Third Person]
Qi and Xunan looked at the elevator displaying the increasing numbers as they ascended to the floor Jae had sent them. Well, he had sent it to Auntie Zhi but she ended up just giving the two of them Jae's number and an assortment of starchy treats she demanded they give him as she did when he stayed in the hospital.
"Can this elevator go any faster?" Xunan grumbled, eyes fixated on the numbers approaching their level.
"Unless you wanted to run up this many flights of stairs, be grateful for the elevator."
Xunan frowned but kept silent, his mind constantly replaying every memory he had gained in the past week of Jae—the blanket being the key to each one. Who would have thought that one blanket was all it took to have Jae demanding them to come over.
Finally, the elevator displayed the correct floor and the doors opened with a small ding. The two rushed out, immediately coming across two guards standing in front of the door.
"Who are you and what are you doing here?" One of the guards immediately confronted them. The only issue? Qi and Xunan didn't understand Korean.
"What the fuck do we do?" Xunan whispered, turning slightly toward Qi.
Qi held up 1 finger to the guards, a small signal asking for them to wait. His phone which had been in his hands as he checked the time continuously throughout their trek to the flat was now dialing Jae's number. He put the phone on speaker, holding it out for the two guards to hear as well.
Only one dial tone sounded through the phone before Jae's voice echoed in the hall. "You're late."
At the sound of the familiar voice, the two guards slightly relaxed their stance. The woman spoke into the phone once again. "Sir, there are two men here asking to come in. Shall we let them in?"
"Yeah, I called them over. Tell Daehyun to open the door." Jae's orders, although incomprehensible to the two Triads, relaxed them.
"Understood." The woman reached to her mic to convey the message to Daehyun who stood guard inside the flat, knocking on the door three times to signal entry. "Two men coming in. Jae called them over."
"Copy."
The click of the door unlocked told the two Triads all they needed to know. The two guards stepped to either side of the door, opening it to let the two men step through. In the entryway, as they crossed the frame of the door, stood Daehyun in all his six-foot glory, a permanent scowl across his face despite his underlying soft persona, ready to show them the way to Jae's room.
Discarding their shoes at the entry to the flat, their soft padded steps barely registered to Jae. Before Jae knew of their presence, courtesy of Daehyun announcing it, they were able to grab a glimpse of a sight they would never forget.
In front of the bedroom door, sitting on his bed was Jae, bundled up in the blanket decorated by cartoonish cats that they had bought specifically for him. The thought of Jae using their scents to calm himself down while they weren't able to be there for him sparked mixed feelings of joy, jealousy, and remorse.
"Sir, your guests are here," Daehyun announced, stepping out from the open doorway to show Qi and Xunan standing there awkwardly, holding a plastic bag.
Jae's head snapped towards the sound of Daehyun's low voice and nodded his head once his eyes set on the two men he never would've imagined would be in front of him.
"Thank you. You can go," Jae dismissed. Qi and Xunan stood in the doorway while Jae stared at them. "Well? What are you waiting for? Give me the blanket."
