[Third person]

Jae found himself stuck in the bathroom in a slight predicament. He had been able to unravel his bandages in order to wash himself down with a rag roughly, but the problem arose when he realized he needed to wrap his bandages again and apply ointment in a place he couldn't reach.

"Daehyun!" Jae shouted from behind the bathroom door.

"Jae? What's wrong?" Xunan asked from outside the bathroom.

"Go call in the guard that's standing by the front door," Jae demanded.

"Why—"

"Just get him."

Xunan stood in front of the closed door, silent before he turned around and walked out of the room, leaving Qi to sit on the bed while he called in the guard that they had first seen when they walked into the flat the night before.

"Jae needs you." Xunan mimed the words as he spoke them, pointing in the direction that he had come from to guide the guard to where Jae was asking for him.

When Daehyun entered the room, Jae began a conversation with him in a language the two Triads couldn't understand.

"Is noona still here or did she leave already?"

"Mrs. Cha has already left for work at the main branch. She ordered me to remain at the apartment to ensure your safety and tend to your needs."

"I need you to change my bandages and I need those two to leave."

The door to the bathroom unlocked with a small click and Daehyun pushed against the door, closing it behind him when he walked into the bathroom. Jae sat on the edge of the bathtub, feet inside the tub. His back faced Daehyun when he walked in to a sight of a back covered in red wounds.

Just looking at them seemed painful.

"Hey, what are you guys doing in there?" Xunan called out from behind the door.

"Nothing! Go away!" Jae shouted, his back still turned in the opposite direction of the door. With a quieter voice, he whispered to Daehyun, "You locked the door behind you, right?"

"Yes, sir."

With no further conversation, Daehyun crouched down in front of the tub, beginning the process of disinfecting the wounds to ensure there was no infection. Even when Daehyun was injured, the disinfectant was the worst part and it always had him wincing.

But Jae didn't move an inch. No sound, no nothing.

There was a reason Jae had become Yun's secondhand man. In the time that Yun's leadership took over the Haneul Family's organization, Daehyun had been promoted to her second highest-ranked security detail and ordered to trail her at all times for protection.

Of course, Daehyun had seen Jae's work during that time. Clever and detail-oriented, a strict leader who promised results, a man who you knew not to cross. Although his slim stature packed with lean muscle didn't give way to the physical description of a man with years of experience and leadership skills rivaling their own organization head, his brain gave him the title of a man.

Work well and you remain safe. Betray him and you will live to regret the day you made that decision. Reward the obedient; punish the disobedient. That was how Jae ran his people—especially the security groups.

Tucking in the last of the bandages, Daehyun's touch left Jae's body.

"I'm finished, sir."

"Thank you." Jae spun around from the edge of the tub, drying his feet as he did so. "You can leave now. I'll send the other two out as soon as I can, so don't be surprised if they run out the door."
