Tamaki's pov
I fiddled with the sleeve of my hero costume. The department had done a good job making the sleeves longer. I didn't need the bandages at the moment since I didn't have any new cuts that needed to be covered. I looked up at the screen. Another pair had completed their test. I was next. I swallowed hard. Shoto approached, a few bruises and scrapes.
"Good luck" he mumbled. I nodded. My name was called and I walked towards the door. I was brought to the entrance of one of the training areas. I crossed my fingers. Please oh please let my opponent have a quirk I can't erase. The door opened and I stepped in. I bit my lip, scanning the empty concrete walls.
"3" the countdown had happened. I removed my staff from my belt. It hit against the cuffs I'd been given.
"2" I took a deep breath, tightening my grip on the staff.
"1" I prepped to avoid any attack that would be thrown at me, bending forward. The sound of the air horn was accompanied by a loud bang. I moved to the side but I was still hit in the shoulder. I dived into a roll and ducked behind cover. I reached up to my shoulder which was bleeding. A small bullet wound. Great. Of all the teachers I got put against the one who has a weapon. Even without his quirk Snipe could probably target me easily if I was in his sights. I bit down on my lip. Alright. I need to keep calm. I leaned around the wall I was hidden behind. I could see him looking around. I pulled back when he turned his head in my direction. Soon after his footsteps started getting closer. I got up and ran down the wall. Another bang and a bullet connected with my heel. I fell down onto the ground around another wall, my shoulder hitting down hard. I shoved my hand into my mouth to keep quiet while stumbling up against another wall. I pressed the button on my staff, extending it and holding it up. At this rate I would never get to the exit. I knelt down at the corner, waiting for him to turn.
"I know you're here somewhere" he turned the corner. I leapt at him, activating my quirk. Now I had more of a chance of avoiding his bullets. My fingers tingled while the electricity sparked along my staff. I swung it. Snipe lifted up his gun and used it to keep the staff away from my face. He threw down a smoke bomb. I leapt back, stumbling on my wounded foot and falling to the ground. I could hardly see anything. My quirk deactivated now that I no longer had a target to keep my eyes on. Another bang and my side was hit by another bullet. I got to my feet, keeping my heel on my left foot up so that it wouldn't hurt too bad. I leapt up again, swinging my staff at him. Another bang and more pain in my knee. I hit the back of his head which left him stumbling a little. I stumbled myself when I landed on my feet and the pain in my knee and heel was flaring but I did my best to ignore it. I pushed with my right leg into another leap. I flung my staff which hit him in the face while reaching for the cuffs. I snapped them down on his wrist right as another bullet connected with my elbow. I slammed into the ground. Through the pain I was feeling through my body it took me a moment to realise what had just happened.
"Aizawa has passed" The voice spoke over the speaker. I lifted my head.
"Wait what?" I looked up. Snipe was laying on the ground himself, having been pulled down by the cuffs that linked us. I sat up. I actually did it. I passed my test. I threw my uncuffed arm.
"Ye-ow" I pulled it back down when the pain caught up with the movement. We had the cuffs removed.
"Good work there kid. You definetly take after your father in more ways than one" My chest swelled. Maybe I really could do this and prove I could be just like dad.
"Now go find Recovery girl before you bleed out on the ground" he adds, pointing towards the bullet wounds. He passed me my staff which I used to help support myself since my leg wasn't going to do the job for me. When I arrived at Recovery girl's room she had returned from watching all the battles. I could see a few different students who had gotten hurt or knocked out in their own battles. She turned to me.
"Sit so I can fix up those injuries of yours" I did as I was told. While she went to get some equipment for my wounds, the door swung open. Shoto was in the doorway. He approached. His breathing was quick and shallow like he'd been running.
"I saw- the whole thing.... You did great" he sat down on the bed.
"Yeah. I actually feel really good about this. I passed my test. It was a stuggle but I passed" I swung my arms up only to bring them back down with pained whimpers.
"Stop moving or you'll make them worse" Recovery girl scolds.
"Now roll up your sleeve so I can get the one in your arm" she adds. I rolled up my sleeve. She looked at my arm. She opened her mouth.
"Its nothing too bad. They're from training. They don't hurt" I lied. She didn't question it, instead reaching over to my elbow and picking out the bullet. She dropped it on the metal tray she had brought over.
"Now I need to see your shoulder" I took off the jumper with a bit off a hassel and pulled up the top underneath so she could see my side and shoulder. She picked out both bullets.
"You should eat more. You seem to work off a lot of what you already eat" she spoke up. I nodded, pulling down my shirt once she had bandaged it. I couldn't stand to have people staring. I pulled off my boot and rolled up my leggings so that she could see the other wounds. Once they were all dealt with, she used her quirk. The pain was a lot less promonent now. She handed me a candy bar.
"Eat this and get some rest" she ordered. I nodded, unwrapping the bar and taking a bite. Shoto had been quiet through the whole thing but now he scooted closer so that we were pressing up against each other. He was still in his hero costume as well. I looked down at him.
"What are those supposed to be anyway?" I flick the metal tubes on his belt.
"They're for holding things" I snort then cover my mouth. He looks at me.
"Sorry. Its just they look kinda dumb. No offense" I cough at the end then take another bite of the candy bar so that I could pretend to be occupied. He didn't say anything, instead leaned his head down on my good shoulder. I didn't say anything, just finished off the candy bar. He let out a long breath.
"I'm so tired" he mumbled, eyes lidded.
"I can imagine. You went up against my dad and he's pretty good" I laugh. He moves his head to look up at me, hair falling over his left eye.
"How's the ear by the way?"
"Better than I thought. Doesn't hurt anymore" he keeps looking up at me. I stick out my tongue teasingly. His face brightens. I laugh while he pulls his head back, one hand falling over the bottom half of his face.
"Sorry. Sorry. My bad" I wave my hand.
"Its fine. I... I don't mind" it was quiet between us. Not awkward. More comforting. I liked that. I leaned over so we were next to each other again.
"Neither do I then" I smile at him. This was nice.
