I immediately ran out of the house to my car and started the engine.
After half an hour of driving nakarating agad ako sa destinasyon ko, agad akong pumasok at nagtanong sa counter.
"Felizarte—Kay Attorney Ezekiel Felizarte po! Is my lolo okay?!" I exclaimed, the nurses checked their computers.
"Sir nasa ICU yung patient, the doctors are—" hindi na natapos ng nurse yung sasabihin niya when my mom came, she looked stressed and in tears when I saw her. Agad akong lumapit sakanya at niyakap siya, I needed to be strong for mom. Naglakad kami papalapit sa waiting area, I saw dad staring at the ground.
Our eyes met, kita ko sa mata ni dad ang lungkot at sakit. All of us doesn't want to lose lolo, I don't want to lose him. Gusto ko makita niya 'ko sa oath taking, maka-graduate ng law school at makapasa ng bar exam. I want him to witness my achievements... After a few minutes of waiting, lumabas yung doctor. Agad kaming lumapit sakanya to know what happened.
"What happened to my father, doc?" Dad asked.
"We successfully resuscitated the patient sir, pero dahil sa kulang na supply ng oxygen na dumaloy sa utak ng pasyente, he has undergo coma. Hindi pa natin alam kung kailan siya magigising, hopefully as soon as possible."
"My lolo will survive, right?" Tanong ko, I looked at him in the eye. "Magigising si lolo 'di ba?"
"Let's just hope for the best." The doctor pursed his lips, "Excuse me." And he left us. May dumating na nurse at kinausap si mom and dad, they're the ones taking care of the paperwork. Napatulala ako sa pader, I never thought this day would come. When they brought lolo to a private room, me and my parents stayed there. Walang nagsasalita, walang umiimik, tanging ingay lang ng aparato ang naririnig.
"Mavy, you know what to do." Dad said while staring at lolo. "Ikaw ang inaasahan namin..." I only nodded and sat on the chair.
"Yes dad..." Sagot ko. My phone vibrated and I saw Sayuri's messages. "Excuse me—" I was about to leave when mom grabbed my hand.
"Where are you going?" She asked, obviously she doesn't want me to go. O baka ako yung pagbantayin, I'd just have to cancel my plans with Sayuri for today.
"School, I have org work. I'll be quick." I said at tuluyan na nga akong umalis ng hospital bago pa 'ko pigilan.
Papunta ako ngayon ng UST, it took me almost an hour and a half to get there. Sa may Noval na lang ako nagpark para mabilis ako makalabas mamaya, I went inside the campus and ran my way to our spot, sa tapat ng main building.
I stopped walking as soon as I saw Joaquin and Sayuri sitting on our spot—hugging each other. I saw Joaquin's reaction when he saw me, nagulat rin siya. These past few days palaging sumasama sakin si Sayuri, when I ask her about Joaquin hindi niya naman alam kung bakit bigla siyang iniwasan. I guess they had a fight, ayaw lang niya sigurong sabihin.
Well at least they've made up now... I took out my phone from my pocket and dialed Sayuri's number. Agad naman niyang sinagot, she's still facing Joaquin that's why she can't see me from behind.
