Oh God, this is so awkward.

"So how's school?" Mom asked as she smiles at me, Uriel nudged my arm and I shot him a glare.

"It's okay...mom." I said and continued to cut my steak. We're having dinner outside, Uriel thought it was a good time to bond as a 'family'.

"How about you, Uriel?" Mom quickly diverted her attention to my brother. I let out a sigh and ate my steak.

"Same same." He answered, "By the way mom, Sayuri wants to give you something." He looked at me and I stared at him with my mouth slightly opened.

"What is it?" Mom looked at me, she's smiling from ear to ear. I carefully took out the small white box from my clutch bag and placed it on the table. Uriel kicked my foot under the table and I glanced at him, he was raising his brow at me. What the fuck is wrong with my brother?! This was not the plan!

I released a sigh opened the box to show it to mom, it's a pair of pearl earrings. Uriel told me three days ago that mom has been eyeing this earring, so he told me to buy this for her. He said that I should give it to mom after our dinner, after—not during!

"Oh sweetie!" She gasped and tears up a little, "How did you know?" She reached for the box and examined it.

I want to roll my eyes but Uriel might ruin my night. Guess, I just have to say what's on the script and play along. I faked a smile at mom, "Daughter's instinct."

Mom stood up from her seat and made her way to our chairs. She hugged me from the side which made it more awkward. I don't know what to do! I looked at Uriel who was looking at me seriously and mouthed, 'hug her' so I awkwardly did.

"Thank you, Sayuri." Mom said and I gave her an acknowledging nod. She went back to her seat and continued to tell random stories. I'm not interested so I just pretended to listen to her until we finished eating dinner and left.

When we got home, mom and Uriel went straight to their respective rooms. Mom said she's leaving tomorrow morning to go to France, another business trip. I was left here at the living room trying to watch a movie by myself. Yaya is in her room, she said she'll sleep early because she's not feeling well.

I felt my phone vibrate from my pocket, I took my phone out to see who messaged me. I think it must be father, but I saw Mavy's name on my screen.

mjfelizarte: how's dinner?

sayonarasayuri: disaster. How's practice?

mjfelizarte: pagod :(( need lambing

I raised a brow at his message. Lambing? Isn't that like comforting someone?

mjfelizarte: kambing*

mjfelizarte: nagcrave ako ng kambing, gusto kong kumain ng kalderetang kambing

sayonarasayuri: you free tomorrow? we can eat kambing if you want

mjfelizarte: Sunday is family day. Wala ka bang family? Joke joke joke one half one fourth
