I take a big breath and put my head back into the glossy water. The water is perfect. My wrinkles. No waves. No Dru Brown. I hear Lexi go back up to the surface beside me. We're having a contest, whoever can stay under the water longest gets to choose an exercise for the other team members to do. Eileen is playing with us, we are the last ones under water. My lungs are burning and I know I need to go up soon...
I gasp as I return to the surface. Seconds after Eileen pops up beside me.
"Almost there, Lee." She says with a smile. I let out a little laugh.
"Soon." I say.

School the next day was like living in a glass box. If you're on the inside you can see out, you can even hear what other people are saying. But, on the outside the box is a mirror. You can't here or see anything but yourself. I'm on the inside. Everyone is aware of the box, sometimes they might run into it. The box is more of a dumpster for those who used to be outside of the box, then were thrown out. I'm a piece of garbage at the bottom of the box that no one wants anymore. My day is slow and lonely. Elisabeth is hanging out with Cody all day and Anika is at home sick.
Life in the box sucks.
I have so much homework it doesn't seem fair. Tomorrow is Halloween and so far I don't have any plans.
"Hey, Jordan." I turn around to face Ian Zang. I must have looked confused because he laughed at me a bit.
"Am I not allowed to talk to you or something?" He asks.
"Depends." I say. "Unless you want to feel the wrath of Dru Brown."
"Dru? She's my stepsister!"
I just stand there in shock.
"W-what? How?"
"My mom and her dad are getting married in a few months. She's told me a lot about you. I don't think any of it is true though."
"It's not." I mumble
"Well, I believe you." He says.
The bell rings and I start to head off, but Ian stops me.
"I'm having a Halloween party tomorrow night," he starts. " and I want you to come."
"Really? I mean, uh, sure. I'd like to come."
"Great." He says with a big smile.
