"How do I look, Mom?" I ask my mother, as I turn around in front of the mirror. I'm wearing a black strapless dress that is tight at the top and flows at the bottom. It goes to my knees. With it I wear red high heels that are glittery and sparkly. My hair is curled and I'm wearing devil ears in my hair. I have a fake devil tail on and dark red lipstick.
"You look great sweetie!" My mom answers.
I grab my red purse and walk out the door. Ian lives around the block so I just walk to his house. I hear it before I can see it. Pop music blares through speakers.
Ian is waiting at the front door to welcome his guests.
"Hey! Jordan! You came!" He says.
"Did you doubt I would?" I ask. "The music is, uh, loud."
"Ya. My sister was in charge of all that stuff."
"She's here?!" I exclaim.
"What is it with you two? Why does she not like you?"
"I don't know, why don't you ask her." I say as Ian slowly turns around to face Dru. Dru is wearing a pink dress and has bunny ears and a tail.
"What are you doing here? No one invited you." Says Dru with a sneer. She's the most angry bunny I've ever seen.
"Actually, I invited her." Says Ian.
Dru looks confused. "Why?" She asks.
"Why not?"
"Why why?"
"Why not why?"
I turn around and sneak away as the two almost siblings fight. I don't recognize a lot of people, maybe because of the box that I'm in or maybe because of the costumes.
I hear some whispering behind me so I decide to turn around and see what's going on. Behind me are the two girls that were talking about me in the hallway a while ago, and another girl with long red hair. Lexi. Lexi, from swimming.
"Hey! Lexi! What's up?" I ask with a big smile. At least I'll know someone here.
"Lexi was just telling us about your last competition." Says the blonde, Sam. The new girl speaks up.
"Is it true? Did you try to drown Dru? Oh! That rhymed." The new girl giggles. "My name is Alexis, how are-" Lexi stomps on Alexis's foot.
"Alexis, be quiet." Growls Sam.
"Why?" Asks Alexis, pulling her black hair behind her ear. "Why can't I talk to her?"
"Because Dru doesn't want us to." Says Sam, right in front of me.
"Why do we care what Dru thinks again?"
"Because I know things." Says a voice behind us. We all turn around slowly to find Dru standing behind us with her arms crossed over her chest.
"It's time for you to leave." She says to me.
"Why should I?" I ask, suddenly feeling really angry.
"Sam, Lexi, Alexis. Do it." Says Dru, cruelty obvious in her voice.
Do what? I think. Then I feel a wave of coldness over my head, something wet and sticky and smelly is poured over my head. When the pouring stops, I'm completely soaked. Everyone at the party, about 70 people stop to stare at me. Even the music is turned off. How Dru pulled this off I have no idea.
Then, I hear them start to laugh. It starts with just one person, then everyone joins in. A chorus of laughter rings in my ears. Then I feel someone pull a coat over my shoulders. They escort me through all the laughing people and out the door to the porch. They shut the door behind us. Once we're outside, I can't help it, I cry. I feel the person who helped me pull me into a hug.
"She's evil." I cry.
"I know," I hear Ian's voice say. "I know."
