 Chapter 28

"You're not getting this gun. And I for damn sure am not putting up my hands," Tommy informed the bandits. "I don't give a shit how many people you have lurking around out here."

"Then we kill all of you," One of the bandits said.

"Go right ahead."

One of Tommy's men turned to him, "Tommy, what the fuck?"

"Yeah, we don't wanna die," Another one chimed in.

"Listen to your crew there," The bandit said.

Tommy looked at the rifle he was holding. I could tell that he was mulling over the situation. Tommy then glanced at the bandits and said, "Okay. My guys and I will hand our stuff over. But, you have to come over here and get it.

"Fuck that. Just toss your stuff over to us. You must think we're dumb or something."

"No. I'm not about to risk breaking this gun. It's in rough shape as it is. You might not even want the damn thing."

One of the bandits made their way around the wreckage and over to Tommy. She was wearing a black scarf around the lower half of her face, and silver goggles. She had a long black ponytail, and she was clutching a submachine gun, "Let me see," The woman said.

When the bandit extended their hand to take the gun from him, Tommy quickly grabbed her hand and spun her around. Tommy then held his right arm around the bandit's neck while keeping the rifle trained at the left side of her head. We now had a hostage situation on our hands.

"Tommy, what the fuck?!?"I blurted out.

The bandits all raised their weapons and pointed them towards Tommy, shouting at him to let go of the hostage.

"I don't think so," Tommy told the bandits. "Put those guns down, or I blow her head off."

Tommy began to move backward, keeping the bandit in front of him, using his hostage as a human shield. The rest of Tommy's group and I all began to move backward as well.

I could see the bandits by the wreckage muttering among themselves, discussing what to do.

"Okay, let her go, and we'll just all take off," One of the bandits told Tommy. "Deal?"

Tommy was standing there and thinking about the bandit's offer. "You don't shoot, and I won't shoot. We just all go our separate ways."

"Yeah. Just let her go."

"I'm going to back up with my guys, back to that building, and then I'll let your buddy go."

"All right."

We all backed up toward that building on the left-hand side of the road again. Tommy and his captive were the last to make it back.

"Okay, I'm letting you go now," Tommy said to his hostage. The bandit merely nodded.

I thought for sure that Tommy was going to kill the bandit right there, but Tommy gave her a slight shove, and the bandit took off away from Tommy and the rest of us.

Then, I saw Tommy flash a small, evil little grin. He brought his rifle back up, aimed, and squeezed the trigger. The gunshot made me jump.

The bandits returned fire, their bullets striking the corner of the building, but Tommy was practically halfway down the block he sprinted past the rest of us so quickly.

"Come the fuck on!" Tommy shouted as he ran by.

The group and I ran as fast as we could to get down the road.
