It didn't immediately register what Jordan had just told all of us. He just continued to back up towards the lobby door. Jordan was about to turn around and leave when Shauna stopped him.

"Hey, what are you talking about?" She asked Jordan.

A huge grin appeared on Jordan's face. "What do you think I'm talking about?" Jordan then started cackling. It was like he was laughing at all of us for not knowing what he meant.

That's when it hit me. "Oh shit. You must be one of Tommy's scouts or whatever he calls them."

"Bingo," Jordan said, pointing at me.

We all started to approach Jordan, making him move faster.

"Jordan, come on, relax," Rolston said. "You don't have to go back to that guy. Stay here."

"Yeah. I'm sure whatever Tommy told you about us isn't true," I told Jordan.

"You trapped Tommy and our guys in a garage. Left them to rot. And one of you assholes killed Borland. Yeah, I'm really going to trust you all."

Erin stood up and drew her pistol. "Move, Rolie."

Rolie spun around, "What?"

"Move!" Erin took aim at Jordan.

"Shauna, Amber, get down!" I yelled.

Erin fired at Jordan before we could even hit the deck. Tommy's scout ducked, turned around, and darted towards the exit. The rounds from Erin's pistol missed Jordan. Jordan blew past the guard and was out of the building pretty quickly. Shauna got to her feet and chased after him.

I got up and was right behind Shauna. Rolie followed suit.

When Shauna and I made it to the road, we saw that Jordan was nowhere to be found.

"The fucker got away," Shauna said.

There was no way of knowing which direction Jordan headed, but I didn't hear any footsteps. "He's gotta be close."

"Yeah, but where do we look?" Rolie asked. "We can't see shit. out here."

Even with the sun coming up shortly, I knew it would be damn near impossible to find Jordan. That was until I spotted some movement near one of the abandoned cars across the street.

"There he is," I said. I kept my voice to a whisper.

"Where?" Shauna asked,

"Car across the street. Don't look. He'll know we're on to him."

"Yeah, I think I see him too. He's peeking over the trunk?"

"Yup."

"Let's walk a bit this way. Act like we don't see him," Rolston told Shauna and me. He pulled out his handgun and kept it close to his right side. We started walking away from the office.

That didn't last long because Rolston must have thought Jordan was on the move. Rolston quickly turned and fired in Jordan's direction.

"Damn, I missed," Rolston told us.

Shauna saw Jordan running down the road, and she took off after him.

"Shit," I sighed, and I went after her.

Jordan turned left down a side road. When Shauna made it to the corner, she dropped down to her hands and knees, trying to catch her breath.

"Are you okay?" I asked when I made it to her.

"I'm exhausted," Shauna replied, breathing heavily.

"Me too." I helped Shauna get up to her feet, and we returned to Rolie.
