How It All Ended

Chapter 23

Andy and I had to think fast before the couple spotted him and me standing there.

"What do we do here?" I asked Andy.

"Go back and get Bill?" Andy suggested. "See what he says."

The two of us went to hop down and hurry to get Bill and the rest of the group. But, we were too late, the couple saw us.

"Hey, you two!" The woman shouted. "Help us. Please!" The woman was begging us to help them out. It seemed serious.

I looked at Andy, "Go and get the others."

"But we-" Andy tried to say.

"Just go," I interrupted. I quickly jumped down from the bus and into the road, hurrying over to the couple.

"Look, we don't want any problems," The woman told me as I approached her and her companion. I had my pipe ready just in case they tried anything.

"Damn, what the hell happened to you?" I asked when I saw the state of the woman's partner.

It looked like someone had beaten the piss out of him. Both of his eyes were blackened, and his nose was bloodied. His right cheek was swollen, and his forehead was covered in scratches and cuts.

"Some people, they beat him up," The woman said.

"Who did?"

"I don't know. Just....Just some people. Please, you have to help."

I thought the couple could be trying to set us up for something, but the man's injuries were legit. I helped the woman in assisting her partner towards the entrance of our street. Bill, Shauna, and the others came running over to see what was going on.

"What's happening out here, Dom?" Bill asked me. "Who are these people?"

Before I could answer, Andy did. "These are the two people that Dom and I ran into."

"Oh really?"

"Please, we don't want any problems. Help my man. I'm begging you," The woman pleaded with the group.

"We're pretty short on medical supplies," Gina said.

"We can't just leave him like this," Bill responded. "Gina, you and Sandy take these two over to the main house and try and fix him up as best you can."

"Okay," Gina replied. She and Sandy helped the couple over towards the main house.

"Man, someone sure beat the shit out of that guy," Andy remarked.

"Wait, you mean you and Dominik didn't do that during your fight with them yesterday?" Shauna asked Andy and me.

"No. I mean, Andy split open the man's lower lip he did do that. I shot his arm, but that was on accident. The bullet grazed his arm though," I answered.

Shauna and I exchanged nervous glances. She and I were both thinking the same thing. "Think it was Tommy?" Shauna asked me.

"I sure as shit hope not," I answered.

"It could have been anybody that did that to him," said Andy.

I could sense Shauna and Amber tensing up. I tried my best to calm the two of them down. "Andy's right. That guy could have bumped into another survivor and started some shit. Maybe he got into a house and someone didn't want him there."

"Or he ran into Tommy and his crew," Amber said.

"Thanks, Amber. That helps," I said dryly.

"It's possible, Dom."
