Chapter 37 : Duel

"Graah" A man uttered as he got kicked hard in the stomach.

"You useless piece of shit, you almost endangered our whole operation" A man with goggles, wielding a spear said to the person lying on the ground, hugging his stomach in pain.

"Dix, I'm sorry, I won't let it happen agai--AAGH" Was all he could say before the man with goggles, named Dix, captain of the Ikelos familia, thrusted his spear to the man's shoulder.

"Did I say you could speak?" Dix said.

A few moments of silence followed after and Dix was taking his time by having a good look around several people, who were either kneeling or lying down on the ground.

These were the same people who attacked Tristan in earlier events. Golg and his goons, but this time, they didn't have the arrogance that they showed before.

How could they? They were in the presence of their captain, Dix, a level 5 and having failed to do their mission, they currently were being punished and as for how they escaped from the custody of Shakti and others, well, they had their own methods but it did cost them a lot.

"You failed to kill even one brat but not only did you fail, you also got captured, we had to pay a lot just to get you retards out of there" Dix said, as he eyed every single one of them with a condescending glare.

"That guy knows about 'their' existence, if he spreads this, well *smack* our way of living will be ruined" Dix said, that smack was the sound of him slamming his spear into the ground, it was very close to Golg's face.

"Eeeek" Golg squealed in fear.

"Now speak, what excuses do you have this time?" Dix said.

In response, Golg gulped down as he was sweating like bullets but still managed to say in a trembling voice "W-w-we were gonna succeed until s-s-someone came and called the patro--kwgh"

But he didn't get to finish what he said until Dix grabbed him by his neck, forcing him to stand up.

"So it was just your incompetence" Dix said in anger.

"No-no, we made sure that no one was around, we even doubled checked, we don't know how that brat managed do avoid our detection but it was some white-haired kid that ruined the plan, he was at least a second class adventurer, there was nothing we could do" Golg said.

"Hoo? A white-haired kid huh?" Dix said with a creepy smile, seeing that his captain no longer had an angry expression, Golg eased up a little but that was just an illusion as his captain hit his stomach hard with a knee, breaking several of his ribs.

"Did you really think I'll accept that as a good excuse?" Dix said then he eyed the goons one by one and said "Kill them" as he grinned creepily.

""Captain?"" ""What?"" ""Huh?"" was all of Golg's goons could say before they were ruthlessly slaughtered by their own familia members. Golg was the only one spared as he was the only level 2 among them.

It looks like there are more and more people that are after Bell and Meliodas', though they were unaware of it.

Meanwhile in the Twilight Manor.

Ais grunted, feeling a painful headache. She opened her eyes to see that she was in her room. 

Her encounter with that green flower monster did a number on her. It took the combined efforts of Ais, Tiona, Tione and Lefiya in the original story to beat that monster but this time she took that monster all by herself until she got help.

She collapsed after the fight and went in a coma for a week.

In that fight, even though that monster was strong, with her strength, Ais shouldn't have been injured to the point that she went into a coma but during that fight she looked distracted and disturbed about something that she couldn't utilize her combat abilities to the fullest thus resulting the state she was in.
