"Why did you confess, even though you promised Chat Noir that you would move on?" Her kwami frowned, standing amidst the rest of her kind. She was upset with her owner, and her arms crossed in defense. "I didn't expect you to be so careless, Marinette."

"I didn't know he'd say that!" After a short pause, with the kwamis staring at her, she squealed once more. "Adrien said we'd make a good couple." She threw herself on the bed, feeling giddy as she buried her head into her scrunched up blanket.

"But master, what about Chat Noir?" Wayzz advanced by her side. And she rolled onto her back to glance at him.

"Yeah!" Pollen said, "We've all seen what happened a few days ago, dear guardian."

"The boy almost kissed you." Kaalki repeatedly slapped her guardian on the forehead, trying to remind her, or possibly knock some sense into her.

"And you promised him you'd move on." Tikki gently pushed the steed away. "Now you're only playing with his feelings."

"But he was the one who told me to confess!" she defended.

"What if he didn't mean it? What if he just said that because he cared about your feelings?" Tikki frowned.

"But—" Her heart lurched within her chest. It was restless; physically painful. "But you heard him!" Marinette hoisted herself up, all of a sudden, scaring the kwamis away. "He doesn't love me yet. He's still in love with Ladybug." They slowly surrounded her once more, and everyone took notice of her empty excuses. Ones she made up to bury the guilt, and her yet unexplained emotions, away. "I just gave him the greatest opportunity to go back to his first love."

The tiny creatures around the room fell silent, and they all looked at her as if she grew a second head. Their eyes swirled with disappointment. "Aren't you forgetting something?" Tikki sighed. Her holder's wavering feelings were confusing. When Marinette's lack of answer had them groan in unison, Tikki pulled Kaalki back. She guided her towards Marinette's forehead, and the little horse immediately proceeded with slapping her.

"Hey!" She scowled.

"You are Ladybug," her kwami said, "And not only have you broken his heart as Ladybug, but you're breaking it again as Marinette!"

The girl's eyes went round. "Oh no," she drawled. "What have I done?" Dragging both of her hands down her face, she slumped to her bed.

"Think of how he'd feel when he finds out you actually left him to return to your crush," Longg hissed. "While he wouldn't be able to get neither Ladybug nor Marinette."

"This is a disaster, a disaster, this is-" She grabbed her pillow and brought it down to her face multiple times in a row. "What do I do? This poor kitty..."

"Easy. I'm going to ask you one thing," Mullo floated atop her master's stomach. "Do you love Chat Noir?"

Marinette took a moment to think this question through. She loved Adrien, that was a fact. But Chat Noir... "I started seeing him differently, yeah. Just a bit."

"Then don't you think it's wrong to run back to Adrien the very first chance you get?" Tikki interfered. This was getting out of hand. It was far more complicated than she'd liked to admit. Tikki knew already that Chat Noir was Adrien, and that it wouldn't affect him much, as he had won Marinette either way. But it felt so wrong to have her owner be so clueless about which part of him she genuinely loved.

"If both Adrien and Chat Noir were drowning, who would you save?" Kaalki asked.

"Adrien!" Her response came quick. "Chat Noir can save himself."

"That's not the point!" They all screamed.

She groaned, covering her face. "This is tiring."

"And whose fault was-" Screams broke out amongst parisians, cutting Kaalki off. It caught everyone off guard, and instantaneously shifted their attention to something far greater.

They rushed to the window, one by one, to get a better view of the attacks. Unable to see anything beyond the railing, Marinette shook her head. "We'll get to that later, we have a city to rescue. Tikki, spots on!"

Volpina. Again.

"Chat Noir," Ladybug called through her yo-yo phone, "I need your help. Fast."

As she sprung off into Paris, the kwamis gathered around Wayzz. "Master Fu always said they could never be superheroes without each other. It's a matter of time before she realizes..." He turned to the window, weighed down and upset. "Chat Noir is the only one meant to be by her side."

"No," Sass closed his eyes, shaking his head, "It's a matter of time before she realizes Adrien is Chat Noir."
