When Bai Li came to bring late lunch to the young woman, she found her lying on her bed, eyes wide open.

She mumbled:

- Is it always like that?

Bai Li wondered for a moment what she meant, but then grinned.

- Ah, I see. Yes, the Masters like their...hm, privacy. Often. This is why I moved the servants' quarters to the far end of the estate. – she said merrily, unaffected.

For the sake of convenience, Miao Lu's chamber was located close to the master bedroom, and almost all day long now she was listening to loud moans and mad love confessions coming from there. No walls were thick enough to hide the lovers' pleasures.

- How... how... - she was unable to finish, astounded at the wild energy one must have to spend so much time in bed, doing what they had been doing. The housekeeper waved a finger.

- Well, pet, you know about cultivators. They train all their lives to be strong and they use their magic to heal, and also have monstrous stamina. Especially Master Lan – he is the Chief Cultivator now, you know this. – she smirked. – Although, I must admit, after 20 years of marriage one would assume that they'd tire of each other...

Miao Lu opened her eyes wide, and sat up in the bed.

- 20 years?! No one can be that much in love after 20 years! It's a lifetime! – she exclaimed.

- Ah, but our Masters are not just anybody. You will not remember it, as you are young, but years ago, when I was a small child, there were serious rumors that they share a single golden core, split in half. So they are constantly attracted to each other, and always try to be one. If they were husband and wife - this house would be crawling with children! - she laughed heartily.

Miao Lu blushed. It sounded...exhausting.

- I took great care in choosing all the servants on the estate. All people who live here know about it, and love our Masters unconditionally. All are loyal, ready to protect them. I hope this will apply to you too? – she raised an eyebrow judgingly.

- Yes... Yes, Li-jie. Of course. – she blushed.

- I am glad to hear it. The Masters are kind and generous. It is an easy job, really. We cook and clean and respect their time together, it's a peaceful life. I have never seen Hanguang-Jun punish a servant for a mistake – unlike his brother, or uncle. The Gusu Lan Clan estate looked a lot differently years ago. – she sighed. – But Wei Qianbei has a great influence on him. He makes his heart softer.

Miao Lu pondered over all this information and could see it, even for just two days, for herself.

- I worry a little about my first night with him. – she said frankly. – I know it must be done, but... he scares me.

- Ah... Master Lan will never hurt you on purpose, but he is different from Master Wei. He will need more time to... get used to this. If he ever does. He only has eyes for his husband. – Bai Li said sweetly. – But you take what you're given, and go with it. There is no other way. I hope you manage to make them happy... they both look different when there is a child to share their lives with.

Speaking of – Master Lan Sizhui will be coming to visit soon! Such great news! I am sure there will be celebrations for at least three days! Which reminds me – we need to do some shopping, and some cooking! How do you like to help the cook with it? I see that staying all alone in your room is not too good for you! – she laughed.

Miao Lu nodded energetically. Everybody had been treating her as if she was sick today, but she felt fine and was starting to feel stir-crazy and bored. She welcomed the change.

The Masters came out for dinner and she could notice the difference. Both looked happy and relaxed. As they were eating, Bai Li was kneeling to the side and preparing to take notes. She said sternly:

- Wei Qianbei, as you well know, your son will be coming home in ten days' time, and today was practically wasted,  so...

Wei Ying raised an eyebrow.

- Spit it out already, annoying young woman! – he mumbled.

- Mmmm. – Lan Zhan huffed.

Miao Lu felt like laughing. Wei Wuxian and Bai Li looked the same age, but she was probably 35, and he – probably around 50.

- Master, we need to do some grocery shopping, and cooking. Do you think the Young Master would stay in his old room? Please, order some instructions. It is high time. –  she chanted, but Wei Ying sensed unmistakably the reproach in her voice.

- Your problem is that you always want things to be perfect, annoying young woman! And they rarely are! – he scolded.

- Forgive me, Master. You know how we all love the Young Master so very much. – she bowed, unfazed.

- Ha! If things get that bad,  A-Yuan can sleep with us! Gods! And food? Do whatever you need. Who cares about food!? – he turned to his husband. – Lan Zhan, say something! Your housekeeper is harassing me!

- Mmmmm. – Lan Zhan was chewing on his food slowly, totally ignoring non-significant matters. He trusted his husband with managing the day-to-day matters implicitly. It drove Wei Wuxian mad.

Miao Lu hid behind her fan to hide her smile. She was beginning to like her Master Wei more and more.

- Typical! Typical! – Wei Ying fumed at him.– Bai Li, discuss this with... with... with LuLu here! Go shopping tomorrow, take two boys to help you with the groceries, and make a list of dishes, which Hanguang-Jun  here will approve! And pick one damned room in this huge house to prepare for my son finally! Done! I have decided!

- Mmmmm. – Lan Zhan protested, or so Miao Lu believed.

Bai Li was used to this, and said calmly:

- Wei Qianbei is wise, as always. I will do my best, Masters. - She bowed deeply and left the room.

- The cheek! This woman will be the death of me, I swear! – Wei Ying yelled, making sure she heard him even behind the closed door.

Miao Lu smiled and said to him:

- Forgive me, Master, but I think she loves your family so much. She wants to please you. As do we all. – she said and blushed.

Lan Zhan looked at her quickly for a moment and continued with his dinner.

- Ah, don't be fooled! This is not the first time she is torturing me! Always asking questions I cannot possibly know the answer to! Do I look like the Mistress of the House here? Cooking! Shopping!  What the hell do I care?!? – he mumbled.

Some of these words caught Lan Wangji's attention in a special way, and he now shifted in his seat, and looked at him, blushing, his eyes glazed, his breathing hitching.

- Wei Ying...

- Oh, I know this look!  Lan Zhan... Lan Zhan, no!  –  Wei Ying raised his hands to defend himself, but had no chance – his husband was all over him, kissing him and nibbling on his skin as he pinned him to the floor once again.

This time Miao Lu just smiled and left the room quietly - she knew what was coming next. As she was closing the door she heard a faint call:

- LuLu, help! Lan Zhan...No! Bad Hanguang-Jun! Bad, bad!

She sighed on the other side of the door. If those two were like that – what would their son be like?
