The next days were bliss.

The servants were decorating the House for the wedding celebration, and everybody was so excited and exhilarated that Jiang Cheng didn't quite have the courage to tell them that it was going to be a very small and humble wedding.

But when he mentioned it to Zewu-Jun, he laughed and said:

- You really don't realize how loved you are, Jiang Wanyin! Even if it were just you and me  –  your men would still want to make you happy, and proud. Please, enjoy it, darling. You deserve this happiness. We all do.  –  he said mildly.

They hugged and kissed, content. The days were lazy and calm  –  the weather was cooler by the lake, and all four of them would often take boat trips along the river, and long walks in the woods, or in the small towns along it. Wherever they went, people would turn around to look again, whispering and admiring their majesty and beauty.

Everybody recognized the robes of the Gusu Lan Clan and the Yunmeng Jiang Clan, and people bowed, in respect, knowing that those were majorly the Clans that had gotten them rid of evil spirit activity in the past.

Lan Xichen liked Wei Wuxian's idea for meal times, and ordered a new table to be carved from warm chestnut wood  –  one that would be big enough to accommodate more people and would be placed in the middle of the far-too-big hall. Now they would always have their meals together, laughing and joking, excited, as the wedding date was getting nearer, and at least two of them were getting more and more nervous too.

The nights were tender and often full of passion. Lan Wangji thought that all of them could finally enjoy married life, a peaceful life. Yet, his mind always wandered back to that day at the market, a year ago, when Wei Wuxian was hugging  -  and laughing with  -  those strange kids.

- Do you regret anything, my love?  –  he asked him on one such night while resting his head on his chest.

- Mmmm.  –  Wei Ying hummed, playing with the long strands of dark hair.  –  I miss him. Them.

Lan Wangji understood. They had talked about and commented on Lan Sizhui's strange request; it made them mostly sad. They knew that it meant he was lonely.

- You still want a baby, my love...  -  Lan Zhan murmured.

- I do. But not like this. Not again, no.  –  he sighed.

They cuddled together, almost afraid to discuss it further  –  things were so good right now that they didn't want to jinx it.

- Do you have any doubts, Sandu Shengshou? The wedding is tomorrow.  –  Lan Xichen smiled after catching his breath  –  his kitten's kisses were leaving him breathless almost always lately.

- What are you even talking about, Huan?!  -  Jiang Cheng scoffed.

- Well, I don't know. Now is the time to reconsider. Your last chance for... freedom, I guess?  –  he said quietly.

Jiang Cheng turned in his embrace to look up at him, frowning.

- Do you  have any doubts, Zewu-Jun? I think this is the question right now. Why would you even ask me such stupid things?!  –  he grumbled.

- Ah, kitten... No, of course not... I love you, Wanyin.   -   he said, blushing.

Jiang Cheng sat up in his lap, a little worried now.

- I am serious. If you have any doubts  –  you must tell me now. I am planning this to be my only wedding in this lifetime, Huan. Ignore my crazy brother! Who the Hell gets married twice, let alone  –  to the same person?!?   –  he yelled.

- Yes, darling. Yes, my love.  –  Lan Xichen was caressing his long hair, smiling. – No doubts. None. – he murmured.

- If I wanted freedom... -  Jiang Wanyin huffed.  –  I wouldn't be here right now, and neither would be you! I wouldn't... I wouldn't have kissed you... last year... you know... But you...  -  he stuttered, flushed and embarrassed.

Lan Huan was smiling, staring at his face, waiting for him patiently. It was hard for him to speak of such things, still so hard.

- You looked so sad... So beautiful... My heart was breaking. I risked everything, maybe for the first time in my life, Huan. –  he said shyly.

- Hey... Kitten, don't be sad... Now is the time to be happy.  –  Lan Xichen smiled, kissing his cheek. – I was almost dead back then, winter had come earlier for me. But you, my pretty, you brought the spring earlier too. You brought me joy, and warmth, and love. How could I ever have doubts, Wanyin...? You are my happiness.

- I love you so much, Huan... So much...  -  Jiang Cheng buried his burning face in his neck, speechless, melting in the tight embrace, thankful to be so close to the only one that mattered.

- You are mine, and I am yours, kitten... Tomorrow will be just another day; tomorrow we will simply celebrate this fact. Aren't you excited, my lovely? Tomorrow will be presents, and food and drinks, and good wishes and smiles all over. Just for us, my love.

- Mmmm.  -  Jiang Cheng purred happily in Lan Xichen's hair, opening his clothes, and cuddling even closer to his skin, deeper, sleepy.

- Are you mine, kitten... -  Zewu-Jun asked softly.

- Yours, husband... Always...
