Crutchie's POV
I woke up in Jack's arms, his breathing steady. The sunlight from outside was able to slip into the room through a tiny opening in the curtains, shining on Jack and lighting up his face perfectly. I couldn't help but smile, a part of me still stunned that we were dating. As my mind wandered, I eventually began to think about my Mom, wondering how she'd feel about the way my life was going. Jack eventually woke up, stretching just a little before looking at me.
"Morning," he mumbled, smiling.
"Morning," I stayed close to him, both of us keeping one another warm.
"Do you want to eat breakfast at the beach?" I nodded, and we sat up.
He grabbed us some food and we went on our way, enjoying the peace and quiet. We started talking about random stuff, forgetting everything around us. I never wanted this moment to end, feeling the happiest I had in years.
"I wish I could draw, I'm so bad at it," I said, smiling.
"Nobody is born good at anything, you've gotta practice," he smiled too, my heart melting as he did so.
"Yeah, but I don't have the patience for that," I joked, making him laugh.
"Have you ever tried writing music?" He caught me off guard as he spoke, my face going red as he turned the conversation on me.
"Mhm, but never anything I've actually liked," he started playing with my hair, keeping his gaze on me.
"I'm sure it's great, you're just being hard on yourself." I blushed some more, but the moment immediately got ruined by my phone going off, my Dad texting me.
10:03 am Your grade is up. I expect you to be home by noon.
I put my head in my hands, feeling sick to my stomach. Jack read the message and put his arms around me, also playing with my hair. We stayed there for a few minutes, and I made sure to stay calm, not wanting to cry.
"I'm so sorry," he eventually whispered, seeming just as upset as I was.
"It's okay, it's not your fault." I pulled away from him and sighed, pushing my hair back. "Let's just go, we shouldn't try putting off the inevitable."
We got my stuff together from Jack's house, and the car ride was completely silent. He held my hand the whole way, though, helping me to feel a little better. Once we reached my house it was clear my Dad wasn't home, so Jack insisted on coming in with me. We sat down on my bed, my chest already feeling tight just from being back.
"You should probably go, I dunno when he'll be home," I mumbled, looking at Jack.
"Please text or call me if you need absolutely anything, okay?" I nodded, Jack then standing and kissing me on the top of the head. "I am always here to help." He added, leaving the room.
I put my clothes away and settled down, deciding I'd watch some movies to calm my nerves. After closing my curtains and setting my laptop on my nightstand, I got in bed, thankfully getting completely distracted by what I was watching.
Even though he asked me to be home by noon, my Dad didn't get home until eleven, storming right up to my room. I paused the movie I was on and sat up, taking deep breaths so I was prepared for whatever might happen. Moments later, he opened my door, staring me down as though I had just murdered someone.
"Where did you stay?" He asked, surprising me that he didn't just immediately hit me.
"At Jack's," was all I answered, my heart beating out of my chest.
