Three Years Later

Years gone by and Madison is finally moving forward. She left Elmyra to Jeremiah's hands as she pursued to study in London Business School.

She moved in London with her mother Marianne, and her two sons Artie and Alec. Few months after moving there, she gave birth to her baby girl, Alana Augustine Newman.

When she completed her 2-year-study, she is ready to return to Hartford and handle Elmyra.

Madison's POV

We arrived safely to our old home. It looks the same, except that Charles is not there. I remained quiet while looking around, remembering every memory that we had in there. Most memories are happy ones, those that I wish didn't end.

Artie is now 8, Alec now 4 and Alana, 2.

"Is my room the same?" Artie asked.

"Yes honey, but we will change it the way you want to" I told him.

Alana is looking around, trying to familiarize herself with the house. Alec, on the other hand is already sitting on the couch and checking on the books on the coffee table.

"It's been a long time" Mom spoke.

"It is" I said to her with a smile.

Then I hear a car stopping in front of our home. I looked outside the window and saw Jeremiah coming out of the car. He had changed his curly hair into a shorter one, he looks much mature than the very first time that I met him.

"Madison, welcome back" he said then we hug.

"I am glad to be back, and I am very happy to start to work" I replied to him.

"Are you sure you want to work tomorrow that early, you can take a week off" he said.

"I'm ready, I'm preparing for this for three years" I told him.

"I bet you are" he replies with a smile

"Jeremiah, is there any news about Alfred?" I asked him.

Jeremiah's smile faded. "He is still asleep, he hasn't progress for that three years that passed" he replied.

It made me even sad. I still don't know what happened to Charles, and the only to know that truth is Alfred.

"Madison, Alfred might never wake up. So don't give so much hope" Jeremiah said.

"I know that, but there's still a little chance that he will" I replied.

"Uncle Jem!" Alec says.

"Wow, you grow up pretty fast" Jeremiah goes to sit with Alec on the couch. They started talking and talking together.

Luke and Camilla crossed my mind this time. I hope both of them are well. I wish Camilla learned to understand my situation, and stopped hating me.

I hope Luke is also happy.

New London, CT

It is a sunny Monday morning when Dennis Spencer opened Spencer Bookstore, the business he opened after retiring from the army.

His grown son, William Spencer helps him with managing the shop while his wife, Eleanor is at home.

"Dad, don't you want me to work in Hartford?" William asked.

"I will let you decide, but I don't know about your mother. She will definitely miss you" Dennis replied.

"When I tell her I that, she might cry" William replied.

"I bet she will" Dennis responded.

Madison's POV

The very next day, I prepared early that morning to start my first day at work. I dressed well, I dressed like those hard working woman like me. I want the people in Elmyra to take me seriously, to respect me and stopped being underestimated.

I wanted Charles' other family members to do that, to see me not as Charles' baby maker wife, but his heiress.

I went outside my room to see the kids one last time, before I leave to work.

I got in Alana's room first and she is still sleeping.

I got into Alec's room and he is already not there.

I looked around and I didn't see him. I went downstairs to look for him and there he is with Mom and Artie.

"Why are you boys awake already? Go back to bed" I told them.

"Madison, remember when I told you that I have a friend to visit when we come back here?" Mom said.

"Yes Mom, are you going to visit her now?" I asked.

"Yeah, today's her birthday so I hope I can surprise her" Mom said.

"Where is she staying?" I asked.

"She lives in New London" Mom said.

"I will ask the driver to take you there" I replied.

"Thank you Madie" she says.

"Can I come with Grandma?" Artie asked.

"Me...me too. Mommy can I come too?" Alec asked.

"Please, mommy we've never been there" Artie said.

"Mom, is it alright?" I asked Mom.

"Yes, that will be fine. Just promise me that you will both behave, okay?" Mom said to the kids.

"I promise" Artie said

"I promise more" Alec said.

Alana's going to look for her brothers when she wakes up.

"Mom, just make sure before you leave that nanny know what to do about Alana" I told her.

"Yes I will" Mom replied.

"I will be going now, have a safe trip" I told her.

"Good luck with your first day" Mom says.

I hope that it will be a good day.

---------------

"We need to get gas" the driver spoke as he spots a gas station to the right.

"Grandma, I also need to pee really badly" Artie spoke.

"Okay dear, there's a bathroom in the gas station.

"How much longer are we going to be in the car?" Alec asked.

"We are pretty close Alec" Marianne replied.

Once the car stopped, Artie quickly opened the car door. "I need to go now!" he says.

Alec feels bored about the whole car ride. He looks around and saw everyone that they are quite busy. Marianne goes out of the car to go the bathroom too.

Artie left the car door open, and so little Alec decided to come out of the car. Then he looks around and saw something a book store, Spencer Bookstore.

"Isn't that great" Alec spoke as he runs towards the store.

All of the people didn't seem to notice that Alec had been gone.

They continued to drive away from the gas station, leaving Alec behind.
