Madison

He walked close to me, and it felt like Charles coming.

Charles but in a very casual look.

"You're crying" he spoke as he looked so concerned.

"Am I?" I said as I touch my cheek, yeah I'm crying.

"I did not know that." I spoke.

"Are you alright?" he asked. He sounded very concerned just like Charles everytime.

Wait. I should stop putting Charles into this, it just makes me sad.

"It's nothing. So what should we do?" I told him.

"You tell me" William said.

"Well, first I think you should give me some tour at this Book Fair." I told him.

"Yes, you are right. Come with me" William spoke.

We walked towards different booths. There were so many books, vintage ones, new ones that I'm sure Alec will love.

I started looking at displays.

"Do you love to read?" William asked as he looked very interested.

"Not a lot, but as you already know my son loves to read. I'd like to get him some books from this fair" I told him.

"I hope you're not thinking of buying him books like that." He said as he looked at the book I'm holding.

"Why? What's wrong with this?" I asked him.

"Come here." William said as he guided me towards another booth.

"Get some of these for him. He'll love it." William said.

"How did you know?" I asked him.

"Well I noticed that books he picked at our bookstore. He loves adventures, he will love this ones very much." William replied.

"Are you sure?" I asked him.

William picked up two books and paid for it. The lady at the booth placed the books on a paper bag.

"Here" William said as he handed me the paper bag.

"Wait." I told him then I got the bag.

"It's a gift. Give it to him, and you'll see how much he will love it." William replied.

"Thank you, it's very nice of you." I told him.

After that, we walked out of the Book Fair to streets of Hartford.

"Where should we go?" William asked.

"Well, I will take you to a museum, we have a bunch of them in here." I told him.

"I'd love to go to all of it." William replied.

"We can't go to all of it by just today, but I think it's good to begin in The Mark Twain House and Museum" I told him.

----------------------------------------

We arrived at the museum shortly, and he seems to like the place.

"This place is wonderful in person." William spoke.

"It is, it's my first time to be here too." I told him.

We walk inside the beautiful Gothic Style home and museum.

We saw the grand staircase that's been beautifully maintained. I love that museums keep everything intact.

We walked and walked around the museum.

"Thank you for bringing me here." he told me.

"It's nothing, I am glad to help a friend." I told him.

We looked inside the rooms and it is really pretty in here. I start to wonder why Charles and I with the kids never get to go to places like this. I wish we had more time together, I wish we went to different places and took a lot of photographs together.

"Are you alright?" William asked.

"Yeah" I told him.

"Penny for your thoughts?" he spoke.

"You know I just thought about my husband, how we didn't had the chance to go somewhere else before." I told him.

"He must be a very busy man." William said.

"He is, was. And a lot of things happened, so we didn't have much time to relax, and enjoy the moment." I told him.

Everything is about me now, I must go ask him about himself.

"What about you? Have you been somewhere else instead of Connecticut?" I asked him.

"I think I don't. I'd love to go to different places, but I can't just leave my parents for long." He replied.

"I thought you're from Hartford initially" William said.

"I'm actually born and raised in Middletown." I told him.

"How did you end up here in Hartford?" William asked.

"It's a very long story, I'll tell you about it next time." I told him. I don't like to just open up about my whole life to him, because it's sad and depressing and I don't want to give him some sad things to remember about me.

"A next time? So we'll meet again then" William said.

"Why not, it's nice that we hang out" I told him.

"You know we should take pictures to remember this day" he told me.

"Yes" I told him.

He took out his phone, pointed the camera to me.

"Don't move" he told me.

"Alright" I responded.

"You can smile, you know" he told me then he smiled.

I smiled like he said.

Then he snapped pictures.

"Go there!" he said as he pointed on the fireplace.

"Okay" I said. I smiled in every photo he captured.

"What about you? I will take a photo of you" I told him.

"Yes, of course" he said as he handed me his phone.

I captured his photos and he seemed to be happy to just be here. I started thinking about my husband again, this must be how he felt when he saw me, he saw a part of me and a part of my sister.

We walked out of the Museum to the streets.

"Watch out!" William shouted as a man on a bike goes straight to my way. William hurriedly grabbed me close to him.

"I'm sorry" The man on the bike said as he continued to go.

We are face to face, his lips close to mine. Charles, I can see Charles in him.

And in a few seconds his lips touched mine. He kissed me, and I kissed him back.

Then my phone rang, and we ended the kiss.

"It's Jeremiah" I told him.

"I should probably go, I need to go back to my office" I told him.
