Madison

It's been a couple of days since Charles reappeared in our lives. It felt like a dream, us being together; the only problem is he seems to be a different person without his memories.

"Madison?" Charles called me.

"Yes?" I told him.

"You're blocking the door to the kitchen" he said.

"Oh" I replied as I make way for him to get inside the kitchen.

"Are we going to live like this for the rest of our lives?" I accidentally spoke. Damn it!

He stopped moving, and took a deep breath.

"It's hard to say." He replied.

"What do you mean?" I asked him.

"You know we are in some kind of a game around here. We're players, someone's going to win sooner or later." he said.

"This is all a game to you?" I said. I can't believe he thinks about this like a game.

"You know it." he told me.

"What about our children? Have you ever thought about them?" I told him.

"The children will be safe no matter who wins." He said.

"I don't remember anything, I only know what he said, what she said. I don't know which one is telling the truth." He added.

"I don't want to play games. Believe who you want to believe, but please don't hurt my children's feelings." I told him.

"I won't, it's the last thing I wanted to do, that's why I'm here." He told me.

Charles

This morning is nothing like the other mornings I spent in that mansion. I admit, I'm concerned with how Madison reacted in our conversation.

"Sir, someone's on the phone from Vermont" Dylan said.

I picked up the phone and answer.

"Mrs. Newman, I hope we can hear from you again." a woman spoke.

"This is Mr. Newman, Mrs. Newman no longer work in our office." I told her.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't know she stepped down of Elmyra. It would be better since  she will be taking over Nolan Corp." the woman said.

"What do you mean?" I asked her.

"Didn't she tell you, Mr. Newman? She inherited the company from Mr. Nolan. Mr. Nolan's been in coma for years, and the doctors don't think he'll ever wake up again. He left the company to Mrs. Newman technically." she explained.

"Oh alright." I told her.

"Please tell her to contact us immediately to accomplish everything we need to do." the lady said.

"I'll tell her." I said then she hangs up.

Nolan Corp.? Alfred Nolan. This has something to do with Alfred Nolan. That guy he allegedly had an affair with.

"Dylan!" I called Dylan.

"Sir?" he asked.

"Who is Alfred Nolan?" I asked him.

"He owns this company in Vermont. He was one of your closest friends, and from what I can remember, he dated Helen first before you did. "

"Who's Helen?" I asked him.

"Helen is Mrs. Newman's older sister" he told me.

"So I dated her sister, before her?" I asked him.

"Yes" he replied. I'm an asshole, dating both sisters.

"I can't believe I ever did that." I told him.

"Well, there's a mix up. You didn't know they were sisters, and they didn't know that they are sisters. It's a long story." Dylan said.

"I hate myself right now." I told him.

"You should not hate yourself. " Dylan said.

"You know Madison's going to have Nolan's company." I told him.

"Oh, that's crazy." he said.

When I got home, I saw Madison alone and I can't stop myself from not telling her about Nolan.

"I didn't know you're taking over Nolan's" I told him.

"You didn't ask" she said.

"Can you be honest with me? Did you and Nolan had a thing?" I asked her. I hope I did not sounded like I'm jealous.

"We never had a thing" she said.

"Then why are you having his company?" I asked her.

"He had my sister's name on his Will. My sister's gone and I'm the one who's left." She told me.

"Oh, I thought..." I don't know what to say.

"I don't want to take it, but his employees will suffer if I didn't do something." she explained.

"Oh you're right." I told her.

"A woman called, she's asking for you about that." I told her.

"Oh, it's about taking Alfred's life support." she said.

"So that's what you need to do?" I asked her.

"Yes, I don't want to end his life, but his doctor said maybe it's time for him to be put to rest." She replied.

"Oh I need to go tomorrow, it's the last day the doctor had given Alfred a chance." she added.

"I'll go with you." I told her.

"Why?" she asked.

"He was my friend, I want to see him one last time." I said. Shit. What was I thinking? I don't remember him at all. I don't even know what he looks like. Something just got inside my head to go there.
