Madison
I was about to get out of my room when the phone rang.
I answered the phone. "Hello" I said.
"Madison?" a familiar voice spoke.
It is Alfred calling.
"Alfred?" I said.
"Yes, I haven't heard from you in the past week." He said.
"Oh I was busy. You know three children can be a mess. " I told him.
"But how are you?" I asked him nicely.
"I'm all good. How I wish I could step out of this hospital." He said.
"Soon you'll be out there." I told him.
"Can you come here?" He asked.
"I'll see if Charles can clear his schedule so we can be there." I told him.
"Just you, please." Alfred said.
"Alfred, I know you remember what happened on the yacht, and you don't want to tell." I told him.
"Some parts are still blurry. I know things, but I just can't say." He told me.
"Please, Alfred, tell us what you know. " I told him.
"Come here, please." He told me.
"Goodbye, Alfred." I hang up.
Why won't he say anything he knows? Why would he have to be this selfish? I wanted to be good to him, but he is giving me a reason to treat him like that.
"Who called you?" Charles asked.
"It's Alfred." I told Charles. His facial expression started to change.
"What did he say?" He asked me.
"He wants me to see him in Vermont." I told Charles.
"What did you say to him?" Charles asked.
"I said we'll see if you can free your schedule, but he wants me to go alone. And I refused." I replied.
"And then?" Charles asked.
"I told him that I know he knows about what happened at the yacht, but he won't tell." I replied.
"Did he say anything?" Charles asked.
"Nothing. He still doesn't want to talk." I said
"I told you he won't say a thing. He won't just give it away without anything in return." Charles responded.
"Let's not talk about him." I told Charles.
"Yes" he replied.
--------------
That afternoon, we spent the time in the backyard with the children. We had a little barbeque party, just us. My mom has been away to visit Mr. And Mrs. Spencer.
"When will you visit your mom and dad in New London?" I asked Charles.
"I haven't spoken to my Dad right after finding out the truth." Charles said.
"Why?" I asked him.
"We haven't had the chance to talk, because of work." Charles replied.
"Or because you're not ready?" I asked him.
"I suppose. And being here means I could help with my mom's medical bills which matters more." Charles replied.
"Let's have a vacation in New London, let's take the children and my mom there." I told Charles.
