"What do you want?" Yeji deadpanned, eyes narrowing at the tall, pure alpha who stopped in front of them.

Hyunjin joined with an awkward chuckle, pulling his twin back by a step and flashing a friendly smile.

"You're Jisung, right?"

"Yeah, have you seen Chohee?" Jisung frankly voiced his intention.

Yeji scoffed, "Why?"

"Yeji," Hyunjin warned.

"What?" the girl only snickered; her sharp eyes could easily cut everyone's approach.

But Jisung stayed and only shifted his gaze to the male beta, repeating the question, "Where's Chohee?"

"Well, she—oh," Hyunjin's gaze shifted behind him, raising his hand in a wave.

"THERE YOU TWO!"

Jisung's heart leaped in both shock and nervousness. The voice was filled with cheery happiness, followed by running footsteps.

He caught a sweet velvet scent that lingered on his nose for awhile. The passing figure with a rather foreign hair color stood beside the male beta.

Their eyes met for a moment before the newcomer faced the twins.

"You left me," she pouted.

"Dad drove us; I'm sorry," Yeji answered, but with a seemingly different intention as she dragged the girl on her side, quite harsh but in a protective manner as the pure alpha could see.

They shared small chats for a short while, with Jisung just staring at them longer than he planned to.

Until the conversation seemed to end, and the girl whom he had been looking for faced him.

"Why are you HERE?" she dragged out, looking up at him with quizzical doe eyes.

But instead, Jisung just stared at her.

Chohee seemed different—or maybe just because of her new hair.

The beta now has scarlet locks, complementing her fair skin tone and pretty face structure.

She's wearing a simple white shirt tucked in black pants, a pair of sneakers, and a pink tote bag hanging on her shoulder.

It wasn't much of a change, honestly. But the pure alpha felt like she had changed.

Maybe because of the way she looked at him? A distant one.

Distant, Jisung mentally scoffed.

"Jisung? Uhh, we're late," Chohee voiced out, ripping him out of his tricky thoughts and flashing a small nervous smile.

"It's mom's birthday on Sunday," he started, watching how her eyes glow. "She meant for me to ask you to come."

"You mean, invite her family to come?" Yeji joined in with heavy emphasis on her tone.

"Yeah, that's what I meant to say," he defended, still not breaking eye contact with the redhead.

Though Chohee just flashed a smile, and was too warm and friendly for Jisung to handle.

Like, how could her smiles now be different?
