CHAPTER 38

It's been an hour since the young pure alpha carried his mate to the hospital, now approaching another half hour without any news.

Jisung informed the family right after he calmed himself down, and the Seos immediately showed up as fast as they can.

Johnny was the first one to arrive, sprinting out the bar he owned without a word. At these times, he's just thankful that being an owner has lots of advantages.

Currently, they were seated at the long white plastic chair outside the Emergency Room– uncomfortable, and too cropped out for the four, but it was solely ignored.

Jisung can't even look at them directly, ashamed of what happened in his own watch. Even though the parents had comforted him, telling him that he wasn't at fault, but he himself buried on the fact that he was there. At the same ground as hers, at his reach, but he let such unfortunate thing happen.

He was too preoccupied to the raging plans of a lunch date that he didn't feel the secondary pain inflicted from his mate. Only when his head suddenly twitched badly, his body immediately reacted and looked everywhere for the beta, even if it causes a violation for trespassing every girls bathroom.

Chohee's slow and rhythmical heartbeat is the only thing that he can lean on right now, having the ability to feel every second of it due to their bond.

So if her heartbeat suddenly rages and considered abnormal, Jisung's body would shake, and Nari would always snap him back to reality.

It went on for a flat two hours, when the double doors opened to reveal the beta doctor responsible for the girl ever since she was a baby.

"Mr. Seo, Mrs. Seo, Youngho you've gotten taller." the man greeted with a small smile

"Doctor Yu" Yoobin returned the kind gesture as he stood up

"Is he Chohee's mate?"

Jisung looked up with blank tired eyes, almost feeling his throat drying up with a single question.

He didn't even know if he deserved to be called as her mate if he can't protect her.

"It's fine, no need to be scared, you're really shaken up." the doctor only reassured as he himself already saw the connection between the young pure alpha and his patient, "We already brought Chohee safely in the VIP room as she's always in. She's doing fine now, better than the last hour. Though I would suggest for her mate to be by her side until she's awake, as I talk to the parents."

With a hesitating glance, Yoobin only nodded while Nari gave him a comforting hug, and Johnny patting his back.

As Jisung walked limp with his head hung low, the beta doctor can just sigh and faced the family.

"He must've felt all the process, I'm just relieved that he can endure it all especially when he's wide awake." he started, "Chohee, as I said she's doing better. Thankfully there's no major occurrence and internal bleeding. She experienced a hard shock that affected her head, but thankfully, her brain isn't hardly affected. Though we detected some traumatic restraints that mostly caused the pain and dizziness, resulted in fainting."

He pursed his lips in a thin line as he observed the worried faces of the three, "I'm no pro, but I've watched Chohee since her younger years, and I'm afraid that her early traumas were heavily triggered. It possibly caused her body to weaken and submitted to the pain she once experienced before. Her body reacted submissively to the person behind it, and I guess it was the same person who did it before. She won't react like that if it weren't."
