Susan
"So, not all rainbows in paradise with your Mystery Girl, huh?" I ask Joven. Poor guy, he looks so defeated. The honeymoon is the easiest part of the marriage and yet he sits here in my living room with his head drooping and shoulders slumped.
"I don't understand her, I've been honest, affectionate, and patient," Joven says and I think I may have heard a small sniffle.
"Well, I've heard your story, and I think you're over-looking the most important part," I don't want to give him the answer to his marital dilemma; he needs to learn how to figure out his wife on his own.
"Do you mean my Vision? Because Heif has already advised me to use it, but I won't spy on my wife," he keeps his head down muttering.
"Well, in this case, I actually agree with Heif," finally Joven raises his head. "Oh, I'm not saying spy on her, but maybe just a well-check on her aura. Does she even know of your gift?"
"No, we never got around to that..." "Okay, okay, I didn't want her to freak out. She's already had a lot thrown at her, and I didn't need to tell her one more thing to make me look less than earthly typical in her eyes."
"When you make up, and you will," I cut him off and continue talking, "You will tell her the gifts bestowed on our people, and more of our history."
"Okay, I promise I will. Now, tell me what I'm missing? Why would she think she was a burden or not wanted? I want her on so many levels, it would make you blush," he stands and begins pacing the room.
"I've been married, I know ALL the levels," she laughs and pats the couch for me to sit back down. "Now, think what seems the oddest?"
"That's why I came to you," he pops back up again, "I don't know!"
"Joven, you're a very smart man, you've waited twenty years for your Mystery girl. Now, you have some serious issues coming your way with the City Council, but focus on your wife for now. I've heard everything you said, but one thing you should be questioning, you're not even concerned about. Think Joven, your wife is new to our world, she's not had classes or been raised in our ways. Think Joven, what should she know and NOT know?"
I push him towards the door, and he looks so lost. He can figure this out, he just needs to quiet his mind.
