Winter's POV:

Wilbur told us that he was going to try and strike a deal with Quackity. I didn't think it would work, but I had to have faith in my brother. I told Wil and Tommy to knock 'emselves out but that I'm not coming along to their negotiations.

I was all peopled out from today. The thought that I might be helping run a country in a few days was overwhelming.

I flopped on my bed but didn't go to sleep. Instead I looked out over the vast landscapes outside the walls. To think we were finally an independent nation.

I pulled my hair out of my space buns and let it flow in the cold breeze. What will happen if we don't win? Will we just become citizens? Or will it be something more.

I raised my hand to the bandage on my cheek. What was that? I pushed my hair out of my face and stood up.

I looked over the land once more before walking over to the ladder.

"I'm heading out for a bit!" I call out, grabbing my sword. I need some level of protection...

I pushed open the gates and slipped outside. The sun was still high in the sky. I had a good few hours to escape reality without just sleeping. I walked through the forest that was still regrowing after the fire.

I found a swath of trees and sat down on the slightly damp grass. The dappled light filtered through the leaves and shone down on me, my pale skin illuminated ever so slightly.

It was nice to be away from the loud chaos of L'Manburg. It was my home and I loved it there, but it got overwhelming fast.

The silence was interrupted by the snapping of a twig behind me.

I gripped the hilt of my sword. The thud of feet made me turn my head towards the noise.

"Who's there?" I called into the trees. A man in a green jumper stepped into my view.

Dream.

I pulled my sword closer to me, but didn't stand up.

"Chill princess, I'm not here to hurt you." he said, holding his hands up in surrender. "I'm just wondering why you're not supervised."

I looked at him quizzically.

"The deal I made with Wilbur was that you would be supervised when outside L'Manburg. At all times."

"Well Wilbur's dealing with election shit and I don't believe he's told anyone about this 'arrangement'."

Not even me apparently.

"Well either you run back to your 'country' or I have to stick around to make sure you're not doing anything," he said.

"Ha." I let out a dry laugh. Like I could do shit. "You overestimate my abilities, Dream." I said not moving from my seat.

"Suit yourself." he leaned against a tree as I turned my head back to the leaves above me. My guard was still up, I was being watched by my worst enemy.

When did my life get this strange?

I sat around, basking in the silence a little longer. As the sun got closer to the horizon, I stood up and shook my head to get my hair out my face.

I walked back towards L'Manburg, keenly aware of the shadow following me. I pushed open the gate and stepped in the country.

Dream stayed at the edge of the forest and didn't leave until the gate was fully closed. I climbed up the walls and sat up on the edge. The sunset was just starting as I looked over the SMP.

So, I guess I'm not going back out anything soon.
