Hi, apa kabar? Semoga semua baik-baik saja.In this chapter i want to share with you how to use preposition of time and place in Bahasa Indonesia. Preposition itself means a word that governing, and usually preceding, a noun or pronoun and expressing a relation to another word or element in the clause.
Before we started, here's the preposition we use in Bahasa Indonesia :
1. Di = In
2. Pada = On/At
3. Dalam = Inside, include, period of time, or to express "was in a situation"
4. Atas = Up
5. Antara = Between
6. Kepada = To/For
7. Akan = To express an object, or to emphasize a word after it
8. Terhadap = To express a target or object
9. Oleh = To express causes
10. Dengan = By/With. To express using an item, or to express together with
11. Berkat = To express the cause that gives effect so that something happens
12. Tentang = About
13. Sampai = Until/Reach
14. Guna = For. It's to expressa benefits of something. Usually used with affixation ke-guna-an.
15. Demi = To express the determination
16. Untuk = For
17. Bagi = To express regarding to

A. PREPOSITION OF TIME
1. Waktu secara umum (General various of time)
Di masa depan = In the future
Di masa lalu/lampau (commonly we used 'lalu' for daily) = In the past
Di masa kini = In the present
Di pagi hari = In the morning
Di siang hari = In the afternoon
Di sore hari = In the evening
Di malam hari = At night2. Tahun (Years)
Pada tahun 2021 = In 2021
Pada tahun 90-an = In the 90s
Pada abad ke-19 = In the 19th century3. Musim (Seasons)
Di musim panas = In summer
Di musim dingin = In winter
Di musim gugur = In autumn
Di musim semi = In spring4. Bulan, Minggu, Hari (Months, Weeks, Days)
Pada bulan juni = In june
Dalam 5 bulan = In five months
Dalam beberapa minggu = In a few weeks
Dalam 5 hari = In five days
Di/Pada hari senin = On monday5. Tanggal (Dates)
Pada 5 maret = On 5th march
Pada tanggal 1-13 april = On 1st-13th april6. Waktu (Times)
Pada jam 11 = At 11 o'clock
Pada saat ini = At the moment7. Hari libur (Holidays)
Pada hari natal = On christmas day
Pada liburan tahun baru = On new years holiday
Pada hari raya idul fitri = On ied mubarak dayB. PREPOSITION OF PLACE
1. Posisi secara umum (Position in general)
Di dalam = Inside
Di luar = Outside
Di antara = Between
Di tengah = In the middle of
Di depan = In front of
Di belakang/Di balik = Behind
Di samping = Beside
Di atas = On
Di bawah = Under2. Specific location
You just need to add "Di" WITH space in front of the places name, adresses, streets, media, etc.Di rumah = At home
Di mall = At mall
Di kamar = In the bedroom
Di twitter = On twitter
Di Jalan Meranti 2 = On Meranti 2nd Street
Di langit = In the skyREMEMBER here's the rules for use "Di" :
1. Di + (space) + Places, adresses, streets, media, time, another specific location.
Di depan, di bawah, di masa depan.
(In front of, under, in the future)2. Di + (no space) + verb
*The "Di" change into an affixation of a word.
Disapu, dibawa, dilepas, dicari.
(Sweeps, bring, to let go, to look for)Ah! also, if you fine these words "Di balik" and "Dibalik" they are totally have different meanings.
Di balik = Behind
Dibalik = FlippedThat's why it's important to put a space if you about to write a location with "Di". Becareful!
