Chapter 8
She sighed, grimacing as her stomach grew tight. Why did her stomach have to get upset now of all times? Kakashi and his comrades hadn't left her be long. She'd probably stepped two feet outside the gate before a bunch of anbu launched a squadron on her.
The game hide-and-seek came to mind, when she thought of how the events had played out so far. Yet 'it' was the one hiding while the rest hunted. The ill kyuubi being 'it.' She cursed her luck, stopping again in her attempt to move farther away from where the shinobi were looking.
Her stomach cramped, forcing her to retch up any substances left in her system. Whatever Ibiki had fed her had surely given her food poisoning. Yuna gasped as she heard someone land a few yards behind her. She wiped her mouth with the back of her hand, looking over her shoulder.
“You are unwell Kyuubi, you should receive some medical attention.” The shadowed man. The kitsune flinched at the familiar voice.
“What the hell are you doing here?” She demanded weakly, leaning heavily on the tree she'd been forced to stop by.
“I could ask you the same, but I assume you're trying to escape from Konoha.” He said, approaching her with calm steps, not at all hesitant in his movements.
Yuna grimaced, clenching her belly as she forced the nausea away. She had to focus on escape, if she succumbed to this horrid illness she may end up stuck in that dark cold solitary confinement again.
“Really Kyuubi, you should get help.” He said, almost teasingly, as he placed a surprisingly gentle hand on her shoulder.
“Don't touch me!” She barked, turning to hit him. But the man was faster and dodged, letting her fall to the ground. Her groans caused a slight smirk to rise on his lips. “Dammit Uchiha, if you're here to kill me at least stay and make sure you succeeded.”
He almost laughed at her words, crouching down to help her up. “Regrettably, I'm not here to kill you. Though it appears I may still lack the power to do so, even in your weakened state. I was only passing through, and noticed a familiar face trying to escape anbu hands and fight off a stomach virus.”
Yuna glared up at the raven through her thick eyelashes and bangs, wishing greatly that she had the strength to kill him now. Sasuke hadn't changed much since their last encounter, though he seemed different. She wondered if that may have possibly been regret hidden in his dark onyx orbs.
So similar to her dear Itachi's, yet so different. The older Uchiha's eyes had held so much more than the younger's. Sasuke only ever thought of hate, anger, revenge, and power. Itachi had thought of so much, he never asked to become who he was, he did it to protect a village, a place that came to loath him.
Her gaze narrowed, yet another reason to destroy the leaf. They forced her husband to live a life of pain, he could have been happy, but they made him slaughter his own clan. The kitsune sighed, her gaze refocusing on Sasuke.
“Mah, you should leave.” She mumbled, ignoring his offer of help as she forced herself onto her knees. Sasuke could almost see her stomach lurch as she cave, slumping over to empty her already hollow stomach.
He assumed she'd been battling this bug for a while. Shaking his head at her helplessness, the boy forcefully lifted the beast to her feet. Pulling her right arm over his shoulder. She resisted briefly, but gave in to his support.
“If I had my strength...” She began, but he cut her off.
“I know, you'd rip my head off, right?” He said mockingly, she only grunted in response. It was humiliating being helped by her arch enemy.
