Chapter 19

Konan had no time to even try to prevent the kyuubi from leaving. She was gone before the rain had even begun to douse her head. The kunoichi gazed out into the darkening village, one hand resting on the door Yuna had left open.

She wished Naruto the best of luck in bringing her home, as the demon clearly had no intention of relying on any of her former homes or families. Even the ones she'd loved the most.

The Ame-nin turned back to her fallen comrades. "What would you have done with her, Nagato, Yahiko?" She wondered, closing the door.

She supposed as an ally to Konoha, it was her duty to report the sighting of the crimson tailed beast. Tell them she looked to be head South East. That she was with child. Yet the bluette couldn't find it in herself to do such a thing.

Yuna had been apart of her family, she and Nagato had even considered her as a daughter. Even if she wanted Naruto to help the poor girl, there were people in Konoha who should never know her whereabouts, she didn't want to accidentally send them a new lead.

Having 'jumped' from Ame, Yuna landed on unsteady feet, not used to her past mode of travel.

She coughed, gazing around the dusty, deserted room. She hadn't been to this room since before Shukaku's sealing. The base had been abandoned after Konoha had practically knocked on the front door.

Yuna pushed open her old door, watching it fall to the floor, sending clouds of dust into the air. The place looked trashed, no doubt thanks to the leaf nin that had found it.

She frowned, going to the third door from the right. It was still standing unlike the other doors, that were in worse shape than hers. The demon ran her hand across it, smiling as the dust cleared to reveal the red stripe on the top of the wood.

She was surprised it was still there, figuring that with a few years it would have peeled off. The redette, opening the door to her lover's old room, entered. Reminiscing over the many nights she'd spent curled up on his lap.

She couldn't help but smile, sitting on the old bed. Again, dust flared up. She coughed, waving it away. How the demon had missed this place, even if it was covered in a thick layer of dust.

Yuna ran her hand over his old night stand. Though it was pitch black in the hideout. Her eyes allowed her to see the picture in its frame. She wiped the dust off the glass, smiling at the two faces looking back at her.

Kisame had taken the picture not long after the group's first mission, she'd wondered where Itachi had hidden it. He hadn't let her see it, and now she knew why.

The look on his face had been so cute. It had probably embarrassed the Uchiha to know he'd made such a face. She churred softly, holding the frame to her chest. "My Darling Itachi.."

A small dash of pain made itself known in her chest, the kyuubi being forced back to the reality of her situation. Her darling was dead. Her family was dead. Everyone was out to get her. She was all alone, and carrying her fallen lover's child.

She shook such depressing thoughts, getting up from the bed, the picture held tight in her grasp. Yuna explored the hideout a little more, even coming across the burnt hallway, where Hidan had tried to burn her alive. She smirked, her hand tracing over the dent in the wall, from where she'd thrown him.

The kyuubi sighed, going to Pain's old office, it would be nice to stay at the old base, but it was no place for an expecting mother, or her unborn child. Pain always kept a drawer of money in his desk. She'd take enough to last a while, then head to the only village that had yet to proclaim her a criminal.
