Starlight (Yelena Belova and Kate Bishop one shots)

Facing Natasha

You and Yelena have been dating for a couple of weeks and Natasha figures it out. Being the overprotective sister that she is she wants to have a conversation with you.

You were in your room, playing with Yelena's hair as she slept peacefully in your arms. It was the middle of the afternoon and you were not tired at all but you didn't feel like moving just yet.

Those moments when your beautiful girlfriend finally let herself relax were so rare, you didn't wanna miss a minute of them.

" Y/n ? " You suddenly heard Natasha calling your name. " Do you know where my sister is ? She isn't in her..."

She stopped mid sentence, looking at you and your sleeping girlfriend with wide eyes.

" We're just... taking a nap together. " You stuttered, afraid of the way Natasha might react. " As friends, of course. "

" Friends huh ? " She asked, clearly not convinced. " You and me in the living room, now. We need to have a conversation about your " friendship " with my sister. "

" But Yelena... " You tried to argue weakly. "  What if she wakes up and needs me for something ? "

" You know she's a trained spy who could kill anyone in a blink of an eye. She'll be fine, stop trying to find excuses for yourself. "

You opened your mouth to reply something but then realized there was nothing to be said. Natasha wasn't a woman you could refuse something to, especially when it was about her baby sister.

" Ok fine, I'm coming. " You finally agreed, slowly entangling yourself from your girlfriend's body. " But only if you promise not to kill me."

" We'll see about that. "

You gulped and followed the redhead out of the room, hoping to come back alive from your conversation.

" So you and my sister are dating. " Nat stated, no uncertainty showing in her voice. " And don't even try denying it again. Yelena would never let you touch her like this if you two weren't really close. Let alone falling asleep in your arms. "

" I... " You hesitated. " Ok you're right, Lena and I are dating. Have been for two months actually. What about it ? Was I supposed to ask you for permission ? "

Before you had time to blink, Natasha pinned you against the wall, her arm compressing your throat.

" If I press here for too long you'll die. " She said, matter of factly.
" This is how fast I can put an end to your life. This how fast you'll die if you do anything to Yelena. "

" Ok, ok. " You cried out, raising your hands in surrender. " I promise I will never do anything to hurt your sister. Now, can you please release me ? Yelena won't be very pleased if you kill her girlfriend. "

Nat sighted but finally put you down, glancing at you with suspicious eyes.

" Come on Nat, don't you think you're overreacting ? " You tried while catching your breath. " We've been friends for a while now, I thought you trusted me ! "

" I trusted my adoptive parents too and they still gave us back to the Red Room. " Her voice was cold but you could feel the emotion behind her words. " Yelena has already been through so much. I can't... I won't let anyone hurt her ever again. "

" I can understand that. " You whispered with a softer voice. " Yelena is your little sister and you feel like it's your mission to protect her but... You'll never have to protect her from me. I can promise you that. "

" Give me one reason to trust you about this ? " Natasha fought back aggressively again. " Why would you be any different than the people who betrayed us before ?

" Because I love her ! " You finally admitted. " Because Yelena is the best thing that has ever happened to me and I would never risk losing her ! "

Natasha gave you a strange look, impressed by your confession but still suspicious.

" You seem genuine and my sister obviously cares a lot about you." She finally blurted out after a couple of minutes. " I won't fight those feelings because Yelena, more than anyone, deserves to be finally happy but I need to warn you. If you do anything..."

" To her I will die yeah I already got that thanks. " You replied sarcastically. " Now are you done with your big protective big sister speech or are we going to spend the night here ? "

" Just... Be careful with her ok ? " Her voice quivered a bit and she cleared her throat. " She isn't as tough as she thinks she is. "

" And neither are you. " You replied, pulling Nat in a reassuring hug. " I promise I won't hurt her and if I ever do, you will do me a favor by ending my life."

" Wait, whose life is going to end ? " A sleepy voice suddenly asked from the other side of the room. " Is everything ok ? "

" Yeah everything is fine babe." You replied, smiling at how cute your girlfriend looked. " You can go back to sleep if you want. "

Yelena nodded and you quickly followed her. You were still a bit afraid of Nat but being with the love of your life was definitely worth facing her scary big sister.
