Sweet dreams

You feel very anxious and can't sleep but hopefully you have a wonderful girlfriend who is here to help (I recommend you to read this listening to the video above. It's what Yelena sings in the end).

You had a very important exam in the morning and you just couldn't get yourself to relax.

You had tried drinking a glass of water, listening to music, counting, basically everything you could think of but nothing seemed to work.

You were still wide awake, listening to your girlfriend's steady breathing next to you.

Usually, it was enough to calm you down but not this time. It just reminded you of the fact that everyone was asleep and you weren't.

What if you were too tired in the morning to focus on your exam properly ? What if you failed it and then ruined your entire life ?

Your breathing became heavier and heavier as panick started to sink in. You tried calming it down but it didn't work so you got up and headed to the bathroom instead.

Yelena was a very light sleeper and you couldn't risk disturbing her. She had just come back from an important mission and needed her rest.

In the bathroom, you sat on the floor, head buried in your knees. You were shaking, trying to prevent yourself from crying. You felt stupid for being upset about a stupid thing like this.

Your girlfriend was plagued with horrible nightmares at least once a week and she still managed to sleep more or less normally so why couldn't you ?

You were crying thinking about how pathetic you were when someone knocked softly on the door.

" Your alright моя любовь ? " You heard Yelena asking. " I heard someone crying is there something wrong ? "

" No I..." You stuttered, your voice shaking inspite of yourself. " I'm fine. You can go back to sleep. "

" Ok you're definitely anything but fine. I'm coming in. "

Your girlfriend opened the door quietly and her face went from tired to very concerned when she saw you curled up on the floor.

She opened her mouth to talk but decided to sit next to you without a word instead.

" Is it ok if I touch you ? " Yelena asked after several minutes of sitting together in silence. " Or do you want me to leave you alone ? "

" Just hold me, please. " You whispered. " I need to know that you're here with me. "

Yelena nodded and gently wrapped her arms around you. She was wearing her favorite hoodie which smelled like honey, sleep, and a particular scent that only belonged to her and you immediately felt better.

You were no longer lost in the darkest corners of your mind. You were sitting on a bathroom floor holding the love of your life. The things your anxiety was trying to make you see were not real but this hug definitely was.

" Do you feel better Starlight ? " Your girlfriend asked when you stopped shaking. " We can stay here for as long as you need but I think you really need to sleep. "

" That's the thing Lena, I can't sleep. " You answered, the anxiety slowly taking over again. " I tried everything but it just doesn't work and I'm going to fail my exam and... "

" Hey, it's alright. It's alright. " Yelena kissed your forehead gently. " I'm sure we can find a solution. Would you want me to sing to you ? "

You looked at her, stunned by her proposition. Your girlfriend had told you before that she never wanted to sing again.

Yelena had a very beautiful voice that she had used many times to seduce men on missions when she was mind controlled by the Red Room. Now that she was free, singing brought back too many bad memories so she usually never did it.

" But El you... You don't sing. "

" I know and that's a shame because I used to love doing it when I was younger. " She sighted and suddenly, you were not the only one shaking anymore. " They took so many things away from me Y/n. My childhood, my hope, almost everything I had. I don't want them to have my voice too. I hate singing now but I know it will be different if I do it for you. Everything is different when I do it for you."

" That's... really sweet." You blushed and kissed your girlfriend's nose. " Let's try it then. If you really want to."

" I do. "

You got up, still holding Yelena's hand and made your way back to the room. It felt cold and unwelcoming a couple of minutes ago but now that your girlfriend was with you, the atmosphere seemed lighter and safer.

You reached the bed and laid down, Yelena holding you in her arms.

" Close your eyes любовь " She whispered tenderly. " I promise I'll keep you safe. "

You were a bit reluctant but refusing anything to Yelena was hard for you. Besides, you trusted her enough to know that everything would be alright as long as she was here.

You closed your eyes, trying to get yourself to relax and your girlfriend kissed your nose gently.

" На склоне наших лет. Нежнее любим мы. " She started singing, stroking your hair. " Cияй прощальный свет, Tот свет любви последней. Полнеба обхватила. "

You coudn't understand a single world but it didn't matter at all. Yelena's voice was so sweet and beautiful, probably the most perfect thing you had ever heard and you suddenly felt very tired.

" You're voice is very cute. " You mumbled, your consciousness already fading away. " I think you just made me fall in love with you a second time. "

" Shhhhh. " Your girlfriend chuckled. " Don't talk любовь. You're supposed to be falling asleep remember ? "

You nodded sleepily and snuggled closer to her as she continued her song. The worlds became blurrier and blurrier until you coudn't hear them anymore. At last, your grip on her hand loosened and you felt into a deep and peaceful sleep.

Noticing that you had finally dozed off, Yelena stopped singing and kissed your forehead lightly.

"спасибо, что вернули мне мой голос. " She whispered, pulling you closer. " Сладких снов звездный свет "
