Starlight (Yelena Belova and Kate Bishop one shots)

My fault

You get hurt protecting Yelena on a mission and of course she blames herself for it.

Triggers warning : blood and injury.

You had been sent on a mission with Yelena to retrieve a package containing a very dangerous substance. You didn't know exactly what it could do but it was too important to be left into the wrong people's hands.

The plan was to get the package while Nat and the other distracted the guards but something had obviously gone wrong with their diversion. Otherwise you wouldn't have to deal with at least twenty heavily armed guards.

" Nat, we need back ups ! " You screamed in your talkie walkie. " We're outnumbered, they are way more than we expected ! What happened to the diversion ?? "

" The knew about our plan, you and Yelena fell right into their trap. " She answered back with a panicked voice.
" We're coming to get you, please stay safe ! "

You turned off the talkie and knocked out a guy on your left while Yelena struggled with another one.

" Natasha's coming with back ups. " You told your girlfriend as more and more guards were coming. " They should be here within a few minutes. "

She nodded but you could still see how worried she was.

" Hey, it's ok. "  You reassured her with a smile. " You're the second deadliest assassin on earth and the first one will be there to help us soon. We'll be all right. Together ? "

" Together. "

You both started running toward the mass of guards, shooting and kicking as many of them as possible.

Yelena was stronger and definitely more experienced than you however, you still completed each other pretty well. Sure, she did most of the work while you only covered her but without you she would have probably taken at least ten bullets already.

You were insanely good at observing the enemies' movements and foreseeing their actions was almost a second nature for you. That why you saw a guard shooting Yelena in the head before the bullet even leave the gun.

" Lena ! " You screamed desperately. " Behind you ! "

She turned back but there wasn't enough time for her to prevent the guy from shooting. The bullet left the gun and you jumped on your girlfriend to push her out off the way.

At first, you didn't feel anything. Then, you heard Yelena screaming your name and you noticed a red stain growing on your shirt.

" Well, shit. " You whispered before falling on your knees.

Your girlfriend killed the guard who had sent the bullet (he was surprisingly also the last one) and ran to your side.

" Y/n, oh my god ! " She cried out, checking your injury. " I'm so so sorry ! "

" It's not your..." You spat out blood before continuing weakly. " It's not your fault. "

You felt your eyelids grow heavier and heavier, Yelena's face slowly fading away.

" Y/n please don't close your eyes. " The blonde sobbed while cradling your body. " Please stay with me, I can't do this without you. I can't ! "

" It's okay, El. " You whispered. "It's perfect. I'm in the arms of my first love".(Yeah it's from Teen Wolf, so what ?)

Those were the last words you spoke before your eyes closed for good and you drifted into unconsciousness.

Yelena's POV

" Y/n ! " I screamed from the top of my lungs. " Y/n wake up ! Someone helps ! "

I was yelling and weeping so loudly that if there were still any guards in the building, they would come and finish the job but I didn't care. If Y/n had to go then so did I .
