You were walking in the streets, still thinking about the conversation you had just had with Yelena.

For once, the blonde had given you pretty good advice on how to deal with the situation. You simply didn't know if you were brave enough to put them into practice.

" Accept your vulnerability."
" Show her that you trust her"

It surely sounded clever but you didn't think you were capable of doing that.

Unlearning that vulnerability and emotions weren't a weakness wasn't that easy for you.

You had always been so strong around Kate, never letting your walls down.

What if you decided to let yourself be vulnerable and lost everything ? What if she thought you were pathetic and just left you ?

You could never bear losing someone you cared about again. Because yes, despite your greatest efforts to deny it, you really cared about Kate.

You were still thinking about what you could do when your phone started ringing. Seeing " Hawkeye number 2 " on the screen, you immediatly picked up.

" Y/n ? " Kate's voice sounded less cheerful than usual and you quickly understood something was wrong. " Can I ask you something ? "

" Sure. " You answered, already feeling worried. " Anything you want ! "

" Could you...could you come with me to visit my mum ? I go every fridays with Clint but he's busy today and I don't want to go alone..."

You didn't reply anything at first, taken aback by her request. You knew her mum was in prison but you had no idea she had been visiting her every week.

Most of all, you coudn't believe Kate was trusting you with something so personal. After all, you had just left her appartement in the middle of the night because you coudn't do the same.

" Okay. " You finally agreed. " Just tell me when and I'll promise I'll be there. "

The brunette gave you all the informations you needed before hanging up and you started making your way to the prison.

You had no idea why she wanted YOU to be there but you were determined to be everything that she needed.

" Hey, you're okay ? " You greeted Kate who was already waiting for you. " I know this must be really hard so...if you need anything..."

" You're here Y/n " She smiled sadly. " That's really all I need right now. "

You grinned back and patted her shoulder,feeling that she was shaking.

" It will be okay. " You tried to reassure her "I'm here alright ?"

She nodded before a guard took the two of you to the visitor room.

" Do you want me to...give you some space to talk with your mum ? " You asked. " Privacy is important and... "

" You won't need to. " Kate looked away, refusing to meet your eyes. " In order to have private things to talk about, you need to be able to talk. "

You gave her a confused look but quickly understood what she meant when you saw her mother.

Or rather didn't see her.

" Wasn't she supposed to be there at 10 ? " You wondered, not daring to say anything aloud.

" They cannot force her to get out of her cell. " Kate unconsciously answered your question. " I come every friday hoping that she'll finally accept to see me but somehow, she never does. "
