Chapter 36

[Link POV]
"JAKE??" I yell down the tree. Not thinking I jump down.
When I reach the bottom I see Emily struggling in Jake's arms. I begin walking over when I'm stopped by Jake's hand held out in front of him. I push it out if the way and throw a punch towards his nose. He loosens his grasp enough for Emily to get away. She runs into my arms, instantly turning around to face Jake holding his bleeding nose. I push her behind me keeping my arm out in front of her.
" You know-" Jake wipes blood from below his nose," you can't just punch someone in the nose everytime you see them."
" You know-" I pause for dramatic effect," I wouldn't have to if you just left my girlfriend alone." I stated. " I still don't understand why you do?" I admit.
" Why don't you ask her." he says turning his gaze to Emily. I turn around to look at her and back at him. " I'm pretty sure I asked you... many times before."I say. " and whatever it is you brought it back up, therefore you caused yourself a bleeding nose." I say smirking.
We stand in a silence for awhile before Jake whistles loudly.
"Link." Emily whispers looking over at the small opening to the meadow. Chris and Isaac walk out into the field and come towards us.
" What now?" Emily whispers into my ear.
" Run?" I ask.
" Do you think we'll be fast enough?"
"It's worth a shot, wait for him to look away though."
"Kay. wait what about the stuff?" She looks over at our little set up.
"Right! Uh. when he looks away get my phone and the speaker, shove them in the backpack and walk over like nothing happened."
"Kay"
" Is Max...?" Jake asks walking over to Chris and Isaac looking back at us and to them. They nod and continue murmuring about something.
"Now?" Emily asks.
"Yep but be careful." I say watching Jake.
After not even a minute Emily comes back.
" Kay. now what they're still turned around?" She asks.
" I guess we could go now." I say.
"Where?"
" I dunno, the opposite of them, that way?" I ask pointing my thumb behind me.
" Kay, when?" I think for a moment.
" Now." I say turning around and begin to sprint across the field with Emily. We hear Jake yelling behind us but we continue running until we are out of sight. Once back in a small forest area we begin going back around the perimeter of the meadow watching Jake, Isaac and Chris running in the direction we were running. We speed up as they reach the edge. Fortunately, they keep running straight ahead. We continue along the perimeter.
" Oh my god." Emily whispers from behind me. I hear a slight chuckle and look back.
She is now laughing hysterically with a hand on her stomach.
" What?"
" I just can't get over the fact we actually made it out of there." she laughs slightly and stops, looking up at me smiling.
" What the hell man!" I say.
" What?" She says looking around cautiously.
" You gotta stop."
" Stop what?" She seemed confused.
" Stop being so damn beautiful"
" You say that a lot and no I'm not." I sigh.
" yes you are! Don't let anyone tell you otherwise." I pulled her into a hug.
"Link?" Emily asked worriedly.
"Yeah?"
