[Rhett POV]
I got out of bed and looked in the mirror, I still had bruises on my face. They were going away but they were still noticeable. I sighed and went to the kitchen. I made my self a waffle. While eating I got a text from Emily in our group chat.
Emily: morning guys! Sorry about Saturday :/
Link: don't be sorry
Me: yeah it was fun!
Link: hey do u guys wanna meet at my house and we can walk to school together?
Me: sure
Emily: yeah
I finished my plain waffle, grabbed my bag and walked out the door. I met Emily half way to Link's house.
" Hey Rhett!" She said walking up behind me.
" hey" I looked over at her. " I guess getting hit by a stick bruises way worse than being punched" I said examining her face.
" Yeah, but I feel great."
"I'm glad to hear that." we reached Link's house. He was sitting on his porch stairs.
"Hey guys!" He waved.
"Hey Link!" Emily said and hugged him. I made a heart with my hands and framed the moment. "You guys though!" I said. They laughed and we continued walking.
All eyes were on us when we got to school.
[Emily POV]
Link and I walked into the school, holding hands, fingers intertwined. Rhett walked beside me. Everyone was looking at us.
Was it because of our bruises??
Link squeezed my hand tighter as we walked. We walked down the hall as the students cleared the path. I looked at Link who looked just as confused as me, I looked at Rhett, he was also confused. We reached the end of the hall realizing what was going on.
There at the end of the hall Jake stood with his friends. All of them also had bruises. The bell then rang and everyone scurried to their class, except us..
" Hey shy one!" Jake said.
" I'm guessing you learned your lesson"
'what lesson?' I thought.
" What lesson?? You're the one who ran off." Rhett said.
" Please if anyone ran off it was you, shy one and boyfriend here!" he said. Rhett clenched his fists. Link pulled away from my hand and walked forward.
'Oh no'
" look guys boyfriends sticking up for his little friends." Jake said.
