Ruby quickly showered and changed into pink shirts and a matching white shirt. She brushed out her hair and tied it into a ponytail. She never felt this clean before, and it felt really good. As she walked towards the porch where Charlie and Meg were sitting, she suddenly stopped and listened.

“Meg why do you keep making jokes about it?”Charlie asked.

It’s really fun to annoy you,” Meg replied.

“But I don’t want Ruby to find out,” Charlie said.

“Don’t be a chicken. She has every right to know. Just tell her how you feel, because if you don’t tell her, I just might,” Meg told him playfully.

“Don’t you dare! Imagine she found out I liked her!” Charlie thought about it. “That’s why you have to stop dropping hints and talking about it. She will find out if you do that.”

“Exactly my plan,” Meg told him.

“Meg! What do I do with you?” Charlie complained.

“How about play along?” She suggested.

“Or how about-” Charlie stopped abruptly.

“Hey guys, I’m back,” Ruby said cheerfully. “What were guys talking about? You want to play some kind of game?”

“Erm, um, yes. That’s exactly what we were talking about,” Charlie said, shooting Meg a look. He felt relieved, since he assumed Ruby didn’t hear their conversation. “So are you feeling better?”

Much better. Thanks guys. I don’t know what I would have done without you,” Ruby thanked them.

“Ruby, if you ever want anything, just ask. Don’t be shy,” Charlie told her.

“Well, she’s not the only shy one around here,” Meg said, poking Charlie.

Charlie glared at her evilly. “Would you quit it?”

“What are you guys talking about?” Ruby asked, feigning confusion.

“Oh, it’s nothing,” Charlie said quickly. “If you are tired, maybe you should go lie down.”

“No no, I’m fine. Thanks though,” Ruby reassured him.

“Seriously. We don’t want you to get tired,” Meg added.

“I’m fine guys. Really,” Ruby said, starting to get annoyed.

“Well, a nap won’t really harm you,” Charlie pointed out.

“Yes! Come on Ruby, let’s go lie down for a little bit,” Meg said, standing up.

“But I am not-” Ruby started.
